Zombie AU 'cause yes (this is purely a OTP in this situation fic)
Trope: Oh hey haven't seen you in a while
Ship: Earthy Colors8 years. That's how long this nightmare had been raging on. Blue had given up hope. Not for survival, of course, but for finding him. Green was never the sharpest tool in the shed, but he was a good fighter. But that can only get you so far, as soon as food ran low he'd probably do something stupid. While she found his little mishaps to enduring, the harsh world they lived in wasn't exactly forgiving. He'd probably die within a month. She tried to stop thinking about him, but couldn't help but think about him sometimes. Remembering his messy hair, his stupid laugh, his optimism. But it always ended up on a painful note. "What happened to him?" Was a question that never ended well in her head.
She wasn't thinking about him when she entered that mall. A good chunk of the roof had fallen onto the ground and plants grow wild. There had to be at least something of value in there. She thought. She was wrong in that assumption, but she wasn't the only one with that idea. As she was walking to the exit, when she heard it. Footsteps. She immediately prepared her bow for a fight, but then she realized that these weren't zombie footsteps. They where a survivor's. She kept her bow ready for battle, as she's encountered enough thieves to know that other people can pose a threat. She hid herself behind a pillar that was demolished halfway up. Pulling the arrow back as far as she could, she looked to see who was there. She couldn't believe her eyes, all she could do was drop her weapon in shock.
"Green...?"
He spun around too meet her gaze. "B-Blue!?" They both stood there in shock. The reality of what was happening toke awhile to set in. But soon Green bolted towards Blue and hugged her tight. Reality hit her like a brick as returned the hug. Green, while bleeding through a scratch mark, was alive and held tightly in her arms. They started sobbing tears of joy. "I... *hick* kn-knew if a-anyone could survive this you c-could!" Green whimpered through his tears. Blue calmly shushed him. "It's ok, we're ok."
They finally got their cry out, so they decided to discuss what had happened to them. Blue insisted on checking his open wound, so she did as he explained his side of the apocalypse. Apparently a month after the outbreak Green joined a small group of survivors who he lived with 5 years before a group of thieves stole their food and defenses which ultimately led to zombies braking into their base. He saw three die, but he wasn't sure what happened to the other one. He been on his own since.
Blue couldn't help but notice how scared he seemed about everything. He became a horrified shell of his former self. He asked for her story. She explained that she had a group too, but her's was a large group. Once the old leader who had lead for 3 years died of sketchy circumstances, the new leader formed a dictatorship. Which didn't last one year before a revolution broke out. Over half the population died and Blue didn't want to take a chance with another group so just keep to her self. Green pointed out that Blue had become a lot colder. She agreed and stated that this whole thing had changed them for the worst.
But now they had each other, and nothing would change that.
I finished this in one day oh my gosh
