It wasn't the police that got there first.
Or an ambulance.
Or a fire truck.
It was a man and his wife.
A doctor, and a nurse.
Without them I don't know what could have happened.
Vincent was waving at a truck.
White.
He had the inner thought to put his hands down.
In every movie and every book he'd ever read, white trucks had been a bad sign.
But he'd risk it for his friends.
As the van got closer the couple realised what had happened, Vincent noticed changes on their faces as they slowed down.
Vincent had never been in a place where he had to ask for help before, so when they got out, he just stood and stared forgetting everything going on in the outside world.
"Are you alright?"
"Is there anyone else in there?"
"Do you need help?"
"Hello, yes, a car has crashed at the side of the road, there seems to be other people in there needing medical treatment,"
Vincent sat down in the road and started to cry.
