Two weeks have passed since Dan stopped talking to Phil. That's two weeks of silence. Two weeks of loneliness. Two weeks of a broken heart.
Phil sighed as he dropped his hand over the edge of his bed. He could see the faint colors of Christmas lights seeping through his window. The snowy wonderland that lie outside his front door has been seen, but not appreciated, and the joyous laughter of the holiday season hasn't done much for Phil.
Phil's phone started ringing, him reaching over and grabbing it.
"Hello?" He says, groggily.
"Merry Christmas Eve!" Matthew says from the other line.
"Thanks man," Phil actually smiles before continuing, "How has your break been so far?"
"Good. So far we've watched Home Alone today and baked cookies. What about you?"
"It's been okay. I haven't done much," Phil says, shifting in his bed.
"You should spend time with your family, not moping around," Matt says.
"Yeah... you're right."
Matt paused for a while. Phil knew what he was going to ask, since he had been contemplating the same thing for days on end. Wondering if just spending a moment could be the detrimental thing to ruin everything.
"Do you still have your gift for Dan?" Matt questions.
Phil closed his eyes before sighing sadly. "Yeah, I do."
"Are you gonna give it to him?"
"I don't know. He clearly doesn't want to see me."
"Well, I think you should try. If he's an asshole to you, then that's that. He doesn't deserve your love if he's acting so childish." Matt tries to reason.
Phil nodded before continuing their conversation. Maybe he should take Dan his gift. In all fairness, he already paid for it, may as well take it to him. It could also make things easier for him. If everything goes wrong, Phil can get some closure.

Phil took a deep breath, exhaling white smoke into the chilly air. A continuous game of raising his hand to knock on the door, only to drop it again in fear. As soon as Phil finally had the courage to knock, he regretted it.
Dan's mother answers the door, a wide smile plastered on her face. It would be a lie if Phil wasn't happy to see Sarah instead of Dan.
"Phil! Oh, how lovely to see you! Come in, come in." Dan's mother says, gesturing for the teen to come in.
"Thank you," Phil smiles.
"How have you been, sweetie? It feels like it's been ages since I've seen you." She asks.
"Oh, uh, I've just been busy. All of my finals and stuff," Phil lies. Maybe it wasn't a whole lie, but what else was he supposed to say? Oh yeah, your son and I almost kissed, he freaked out, and is now pretending like I don't exist. "But it's great to see you again, Sarah."
"I understand, and I'm glad you're here," She smiles.
Phil and Sarah were in the kitchen talking for a while, Phil completely forgetting why he was there. Dan's gift was sat on the counter, close to where he and Sarah dried and put away dishes together.
"So how are you and Dan? He hasn't talked about you in a while." Sarah brings up.
"Oh! Well, um-" Phil begins, getting cut off.
