[Chapter 5 - Riley's Surprise]

- Riley -

I slowly sipped on my dunkin' donuts coffee as my AP chemistry teacher drug on the lesson. I was so tired from staying up late last night talking to my brother. I have my regrets now, but anyone would do it for their cross-country brother.

Today I luckily only had practice, the game was tomorrow. We also had a game on Monday of this week. Kayden hasn't gotten any nicer either.

He deliberately does things to me like trip me, mess up a throw so it hits my body instead of the glove or the net behind me. Coach has noticed as well and has said something to Kayden but it does nothing.

All because I took his position as starting pitcher. Pathetic honestly, but it also reminds me of someone. I remember they used to do things like trip me in the hallway or shove me around some because they liked me.

I shook my head of the thoughts and tried to focus on what my chem teacher was saying, though it was really, really, boring.

The bell rang and I was still slowly getting out of my chair and gathering my things. I wasted half of my time I normally use for walking across the school just getting out of the class. Whinnie stayed behind with me, but she had to drag me along to get us on time to AP English.

Once we got there the coffee was slowly kicking in, when we got seated I noticed one of my teammates, Carson Owens drinking a monster. I leaned forward and tapped his shoulder, he turned around and smiled.

"Hey Seager, what's good?" He asked obviously hyped up. I half smiled at him, "Do you have another monster with you that I can have?"

He smiled and handed me the one on his desk, "I already had one this morning. You can have this one, haven't even taken a sip out of it." I gratefully took the can from him and gave him the biggest smile I could muster, "Thanks, it's been a long night."

He nodded and looked forward in his seat, I took the can and dumped at least half of its contents into my coffee. Whinnie gave me a funny look, "My coffee is strong and isn't working. I need something!" She giggled and nodded before looking forward to our teacher.

By the end of AP English, I walked out with half a can of monster and I felt more awake. When I sat in homeroom I sat in my usual spot, I was first here since my homeroom was next door to my AP English class.

I started to drink my monster while reading some books on wattpad when I felt a chair being pulled up beside me.

"Since when did you drink monster?" A voice I recognized all too well said from my left. I sighed, "Since I asked Carson for it this morning."

I saw his hand's fist and unfist at the mention of the player's name. I shook my head and took another sip. "Why are you sitting here?" I asked blatantly, I mean curiosity did kill the cat. I looked up at him to see him smirk.

"I wanted to change my view from afar, so I got a little closer." He said looking directly at me and placing his hand on my desk. I mean I knew he stared at me, but I didn't know he liked the view.

"Than I guess it's safe to say you like the view," I mumbled but he heard me because his eyes snapped to the side of my head, and I could see his neck get visibly pink. "I was wondering if-" Kayden started but I cut him off.

"If this is another plan to humiliate me or hurt me physically just stop right there. I said it, in the beginning, I will say it again, I'm not afraid to kick your ass. And I ain't taking your shit Walker, so stop trying to make me."

He was silent and his mouth opened and closed like a fish, I gave him a look before I turned back to my book surprised the teacher didn't say anything.
