"THERE'S SOMETHING IN THERE!" MIKE yelled, stating the obvious.
"Keep her talking, keep her awake!" Jonathan told them as he got up from his spot and ran over to the food court. Danielle watched with wide eyes.
"You know, it's not actually that bad, there was this girl on my soccer team, Beth Wildfire, she was the goalie and this other girl slid into her leg, and the whole bone came out of her knee, six inches or something, it was insane," Robin rants nervously and Danielle blinks as she looks over at her confused.
"Robin," Steve said.
"Yeah?"
"You're not helping."
"I'm sorry," Danielle heard her say and tried to hide a smile. How could she have never noticed Robin? She was so cute.
Jonathan ran back over with a knife in hand, "El? This is gonna hurt like hell, okay?"
"Okay," El said, tears in her eyes.
"You're gonna want to bite down on this," Jonathan handed her a wooden spoon, which Mike took and gently placed in her mouth.
Jonathan began cutting into her leg and El's screams were muffled by the spoon, but Danielle could tell she was in absolute pain. Jonathan reached his fingers into the cut and El's scream grew louder.
"No!" she yelled, spitting out the spoon, "Stop it!"
Jonathan withdrew his fingers and El sat up, "I can do it myself."
She reached her hand out and began to pull whatever the thing was from her leg. Behind them, the glass display for one of the stores shattered as El removed the thing from her leg and threw it across the mall. Danielle's eyes followed it to see the chief of police enter with a woman beside him. Seeing the way she looked at Will and Jonathan, Danielle assumed it was their mom.
"Is anyone going to explain what the hell that just was?" Angela asked as she pointed her finger over her shoulder.
"There's this whole other world, the Upside Down, do you remember when Will was missing?" Lucas asked his sister and Angela nodded, "That's where he was."
"The Demogorgon passed through the gate from the Upside Down, but Eleven killed it. Then the Mind Flayer was able to come through again, using Will as a host last year, we got him out and Eleven closed the gate, but the Russians reopened it which allowed for him to Flay people," Dustin explains.
Danielle blinks, putting the pieces together slowly. She glances over at Max, "That's why you were looking for Billy. He's -," the word feels stranger in her mind and even stranger on her tongue, "He's Flayed, isn't he?"
