"OH YES, WE'RE GONNA FALL IN LOVE AND IT feels so right. Yes, we're gonna make love it's gonna be tonight," Danielle Mayfield hums Yes by Merry Clayton as she gets ready for school. Her acceptance letter from UCLA came in last night and she couldn't be happier as she danced over to her vanity, putting on lip gloss.

She also had plans. With Robin. To take their relationship to the next level.

Sure, her life had gone to shit. Her sister was flunking out of the tenth grade. Her mom was drinking, her stepbrother was dead, and she now lived in a trailer park. But her stepdad was gone, and she was in love, and she was going back to California so she could happily ignore the shitshow that had become her life.

She shoved her textbooks into her bag and slung it over her shoulder as she grabbed the keys to her Jeep off her desk and headed out of the room. She went across the hall and shoved open the door to Max's room.

Danielle sighed as she saw that her younger sister was still in bed, pillow on top of her head, blocking out the light. She walked over and opened the curtains near Max's bed letting the light into the room before snatching the pillow off of Max's face.

"Danielle," Max groans, "I'm not going to school."

"I've decided that you are," Danielle states, "I let you skip yesterday and the day before that. But if you want to pass and graduate you actually need to attend school."

Max sighs and looks over at her clock, "I'd just make you late."

"That's okay, I'm fine with being late," Danielle responds, "Now get dressed. I'll make you a bagel."

"Fine," Max says as she shoves the covers off of her.

Dani smiles as she heads out of her room and into the kitchen. She looks for the bagels before realizing that they ran out of bagels a week ago. She looks in the fridge and also notices that they're out of milk, so cereal was off the table as well.

"Perfect," Danielle mutters with a sigh as she slams the fridge shut.

Max emerges from her room with her bag and Walkman, "Where's my bagel?"

"Yeah mom hasn't gone grocery shopping in a while so no bagel for breakfast, can I interest you in a dinner bagel?" Danielle asks.

Max glances at her, "Seriously? A bagel for dinner?"

"Pizza bagel?" Dani says.

"I'm intrigued," Max tells her, and Dani smiles.

"Pizza bagels it is," Danielle says with a clap, "Let's get to school mini-Mayfield."
