Greetings!

Last week was hectic and a lot of exciting stuff happened.

For starters, I injured my shoulder and wound up in the emergency room. I had calcific tendonitis in my right shoulder caused by, yep, you guessed it, too many hours at the computer. The joint was frozen and it was not pretty.

Of course that didn't stop me! Using my left hand and the crappy touchpad on my laptop I finished laying out the print edition of the book–all 569 pages of it.

I can't truly express how excited I am to be writing this. For starters, I reworked the map and the calendar graphics into spreads. They look amazing, check it out.

I had to split the crossroads gap to make room for the gutter of the book where it folds

I added additional elements like the moons to clarify the whole concept that our world has three moons.

I then designed the chapter headers as a countdown to the alignment of the moons where all hell breaks loose. This idea came to me at 4am, as most good ideas do. As the book progresses, the moons move and grow fuller and ultimately align.

And if you're wondering, Marzio and I created the full calendar with moon progressions and phases for the entire year as reference before the book was written. This resource helped us keep track of where the moons were in the sky at any given moment. Needless to say, this visual element really brought the design of the book home for me.

WHY THE TITLE CHANGE?

WHY THE TITLE CHANGE?

As many of you may have already noticed, we've changed the title from THE TENDRILS OF FATE, to THE UNSEEN HAND. There are a few reasons for this. The Tendrils of Fate coupled with the cover featuring Jarle and Avaren read a bit more romance than we liked. The Tendrils of Fate was our working title for years but we weren't 100% happy with it. The Unseen Hand dovetails nicely into the final book of the duology, The Lair of Shadows, which we're working on now. Both books are ultimately about the Hand of Fate pulling the puppet strings. This was not an easy decision, but marketing wise, a necessary one. Our book does have a romance element, but overall it's more of an epic fantasy tale. We wanted the cover and the title to reflect that. The book also touches upon the mysterious card game of Thrartas and there is this undercurrent of puppet strings being pulled that works with the new title. Do let us know what you think about this change, we'd love to hear from you.

THE FIRST EDITION OF THE BOOK BOOK WILL BE HARDCOVER AND INCLUDE FULL COLOR ILLUSTRATIONS! LIMITED TO 1,000 COPIES.
