Chapter 17

"Mom! Look, it's Princess Ariel!" a little red-head screamed. She jumped up and down, pointed her small finger at me. Her mother said something to her and walked over.

"Well, hello there." I greeted in character, kneeling so I was the height of the little girl. "What's your name?"

"Abby!" she chirped, a huge smile completing her childish features. "I have a secret to tell you."

"Oh?" I gasped. "And what is that?"

She leaned closer, so only I could hear her.

"You're my favorite princess." she whispered in my ear. I laughed and gave her a hug.

"You're my favorite princess too." I replied, poking her stomach.

"But I'm not a princess." she sighed, her pretty smile disappearing.

"Hey, don't frown Abby, darling. Of course you're a princess. You're kind, and beautiful just like one."

Her smile reappeared and she wrapped her small arms around my neck.

"Thank you Ariel." she smiled.

"Anything for a fellow princess." I giggled. "Now, I do believe a princess deserves a crown."

I slipped the silver crown off my head and placed it on Abby's. I brushed her bangs away, tucking them behind her ear.

"There, perfect." I cheered.

"Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!" she squealed.

"You're very welcome." I said, giving her one last hug before she ran off with her family.

"I don't know how you do that." a voice said behind me. I turned and saw my co-worker, Joey. Or you may know him as Prince Eric.

"Do what?" I questioned, adjusting my dress.

"Make these little girls feel so great about themselves. Normally, we take a picture and they leave. But you go all the way and they walk away feeling like a million bucks." he explained.

"It just comes to me. I tell them what I'd want my idol to say to me." I shrugged.
