Chapter 31

I tossed and turned all night, but I just couldn't sleep. I groaned and tore the covers off my legs, making sure not to wake Louis.

Not that he would wake up, he sleeps through earthquakes.

I tiptoed out of the room, making sure not to hit the squeaky parts or step on one of the boys unconscious bodies. I slipped into the hallway and traveled down the stairs, gripping the banister for dear life.

"If I let you know I'm here for you, maybe you'll love yourself like I love you." I sang quietly, traipsing to the kitchen.

"I knew you'd like that song." a voice said behind me. I jumped and covered my mouth before I let out a scream.

"Jesus Christ Niall!" I whisper-yelled and slapped his arm. "Don't fucking scare me like that!"

"Why are you up?" he asked.

"Can't sleep, lots of stuff on my mind." I shrugged.

"Like what?"

You.

"How Halloween is the only holiday that you can put dead bodies on your lawn and everybody thinks it's decoration or how that basically when you're knocking on someone's door, you're punching the door. It's abuse." I lied.

"I know you better than you think, Arielle. What's really on your mind?" he spoke. I sighed and looked away.

"Do you ever think about someone, more than you should?" I questioned. He nodded. "Well, that's why I can't sleep. This person is ruining my fucking sleep."

"Who?"

You.

"No one."

"Arielle..." Niall sighed and gave me his furby face.

"Niall, don't give me the face. It makes me want to cry." I whined. He cracked a smile and opened his arms knowingly. "Tell me about this girl you're talking to."

"No, I don't really want to."

"Why not?" I asked, stepping away.

"Because, I'm not, uh, talking to any girl." he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Oh thank God. You have no idea how jealous I- Shit." I squeaked and covered my mouth. His eyes widened and he stared at me.
