When i was 4 my family moved from the country into the city. Smack bang in the middle of Bondi, which was perfect considering my love for the ocean. I'm the only girl in my family, next to Jax and Keiran, my older brothers, but I've always been "one of the boys" as my dad would say. Even though I've been smarter then them since, forever, they still make me feel stupid sometimes. When we first moved to Bondi, I didn't really have friends. But I didn't need them. I had my music.
About 4 months after we had got settled in, we got new neighbors. A mum and dad, 2 older girls, a boy who looked about the same age as me, and a dog. My god that dog was cute. Not even a week after they had moved in the boy had got his basketball stuck in my tree 17 times. 17! One time when he threw it in the tree, he came to the door. I answered it.
??: c-can I have my ball back please
y/n: yes, but you need to stop throwing in my tree!
??: I'm sorry
y/n: it's fine.
mum: oh dear, come in Ruel
??: thank you Mrs Lee
Ruel. That was his name. Interesting.
Mum: I take it you two have already met?
y/n: yes mum
Ruel: Mrs Lee, I got my ball stuck in the tree again.
Mum: well go outside and ask Mr Lee to get it down for you. And when you come back in, you can have some cake. y/n, go with him so he doesn't get lost.
I went outside and Ruel followed. He was little. Real scrawny.
y/n: dad!! Ruel got his ball stuck
Dad: *climbing down from the tree with the ball* well, what did you think I was doing up here bud
Ruel: oh thanks Mr Lee!
Dad: any time kiddo
y/n: let's go inside and get cake
Ruel: why cake?
Mum: it was y/n birthday yesterday so we had a cake to celebrate
Ruel: no way! My birthdays soon too!
Mum: oh wow, how old are you turning dear?
Ruel: I turn 6! I'm getting big
Jax and Keiran came running down the stairs.
Jax: Ruel!!! Mate where you been I missed ya
Keiran: shit! Don't tell me that's mini Van Dijk? Ehh Ruely my dude, how you been?
Ruel: hey guys
Mum: J, can you go help your dad with the ladder please
Jax: yeah yeah mum
Mum: Keiran. You too
Keiran: love you mum
Ruel and I finished eating the cake and had something to drink and then he had to go. I walked with him to the door
Ruel: would you maybe want to come to my birthday party?
y/n: I will have to ask but sure
Ruel: ok, thanks for the cake. Bye
y/n: bye
