The first few minutes of the drive back to Conor's house were filled with silence until he spoke up softly."I'm sorry."
"For what?" I asked, not taking my eyes off the road.
"Everything. Spilling our secret to everyone. Ruining your birthday." He said, guilt filled his voice.
"It was bound to come out at some point." I sighed.
"But not like that. It was shitty of me. I'm sorry for embarrassing you. I was just so pissed."
"It's okay. I know he was provoking you." I replied.
Conor looked over at me as I pulled on to his street. "How are you so calm about this? I figured you would be throwing shit at me and telling me you never want to see me again."
"I'm still processing it. I'm not happy about it, but what good would it do to react like that?" I rationalized.
The rest of the drive was silent. I helped him inside when we got home, even after his protests, and we went upstairs, sitting down on the end of his bed.
"Do you want to take a shower?" I asked.
"You can go first." He replied.
I nodded, standing up and looking into the mirror in his bedroom as I pulled my hair up. "You didn't ruin my birthday, you know."
He looked up at me. "I didn't exactly make it better."
"It was great until Jay showed up." I replied, turning back around to look at him.
"I hope you don't hate me for what I said to him about us. About you." He muttered.
"You said some things out of anger that weren't necessarily appropriate...and kind of embarrassing for me, but I know why you said it. I forgive you, and I don't hate you, Conor."
He sighed. "You really are incredible, you know that?"
I laughed lightly. "You make it hard to stay mad at you."
He gave me a look like the one I got when I kissed him after he gave me the Rolex.
He brought a hand up to my face gently, brushing his thumb against my cheek before dropping it. "I really don't deserve you sometimes."
"How are you feeling?" I asked, changing the subject.
"I'm okay. He hits like a bitch." Conor joked.
I looked down, breaking our stare as a grin formed on my face. "If it makes you feel any better, it was kind of sexy to see you stand up to him like that."
"Oh yeah?" He smirked.
I nodded, moving closer to him. "Although I still don't appreciate being called out on our sex life," My voice dropped to a whisper, "something about you letting him know how much you please me was kind of a turn on."
He bit his lip, smiling as he looked at the ground. "Hell of a woman, you are."
I laughed as I stood up and strutted off to the bathroom to take a shower. He came in a few minutes later, leaning against the wall as he watched me.
"You going to stand there and stare like a creep or are you going to join me?" I asked.
He smiled, pulling his shirt over his head and stripping down before stepping into the shower with me. He placed his hands on my waist, mine going to his chest before wrapping around his shoulders.
"Happy Birthday." He said.
I rolled my eyes playfully, pressing a kiss to his lips. He pulled me to him, wincing as I pressed against his tender stomach.
