TUG OF FEELINGS - Poem

Inspiration struck me after reading a poem in 'Just Friends' by Sumrit Shahi. There might be a few similar stuff but they're just a few, believe me!

His disarming smile, oh she's a slave

His presence for which she always craves

To her, there wasn't anything more appealing

& not much later, this gave to a much stronger feeling.

But, girl! The two are poles apart

Friendship is a responsibility, love is a commitment.

Yet it also comes with punishment

of pain & guilt which might never depart.

(Oh dame, what do you know of it?

You might fall in love or fail in it!)

Fancies of love stories you believed in

Harshly the realities of life kick in

She longed for his magical kiss, his one look

Secretly she yearned for more than the hand she shook.

Wait!

Let his heart not rule your brain

Let his words not drive you insane.

For him you are just a comrade

For him, not in heaven was this made.

Stop!

Do you even realize the path you tread?

What if this leads to something you dread?

In his company, you find solace.

For those 3 words, how long you'll chase?

This journey is like a maze

& for his help, you might gaze.

But he won't be there forever,

Maybe you're not destined to be together.

Think, my dear, you didn't stop when it was needed.

To your emotions, his heart never heeded.

His liking in you is enough; it is God's holy grace.

Feeling him for an eternity, not in your destiny was it placed.

Love isn't something that always lasts.

You'll have to put this all to the past.

For love is something you're not meant to have.

With him, after all, what can you have?
