A boy, barely a teen sat under a tree. Summer had gone and fall was coming. The whether was still nice but the chill of winter was approaching ever present, soon to take over.

A thin layer of frost covered the ground, the sun shinning through the fog and hitting it just right to make it glow. The trees were just starting to change color as leaves layers the ground here and there.

The young boy, sat, motionless, looking out into nothing. His onyx eyes had a far away look to them and a heaviness to them you shouldn't find in one so young. The wind blew, blowing leaves off the trees and ruffling the boy's black hair sitting neatly in a short ponytail.

A chill was in the air but the boy was not bothered. Sitting in just a teeshirt and pants, he would of felt the chill and noticed the goosebumps that covered his skin only if he was truly there. But he wasn't, he was lost in his mind. There physically but not mentally.

Such inner turmoil should not be found in one so young. It was simply wrong. Most could not see the pain he was in constantly, every single waking day. He hide it behind a perfect mask. Always perfectly reserved and respectful. Never a hair out of place. Always perfect. Even now, as he sat alone, he had the mask up for so long that he didn't know how to take it down. Walls built up so high that it seemed impossible to knock them down.

A young girl, bundled up in a mint green jacket came walking through the forest. Bright pink hair popped out like a sore thumb against the green canvas of trees. A light smile was across her face as she skipped around, looking at all the little flowers and small animals here and there. Electric green eyes shined with joy and curiosity. An air of innocence surrounded the young girl, not yet tainted by the cruel world.

Skipping around a tree she saw the boy. The smile fell from her face, the boy must be cold, he has no jacket, that's not good. Walking up to the boy, she frowned at him, "It's not smart to not wear a jacket when it's cold out, you'll catch a cold you silly thing!"

The boy was startled, not noticing the girls arrival but quickly composed himself. He looked the young girl up and down and couldn't help but notice her pink hair. Very vibrant. "Ah, silly me. I'll try not to make that mistake again."

The girl rolled her eyes, "Yeah right, you're just like my Tou-san, always forgetting to take your jacket with you. You say you will but you still always forget."

The boy couldn't help but feel slightly amused by the child but it was hard to truly feel any emotions lately. He just felt numb to the world.

"You are a shinobi, right?" Asked the girl, eyes crinkling in thought.

"Yes, I am."

"Than shinobi-san, why are you crying?"

"Huh? What do you mean?" Said boy touches his face searching for tears but feels none, "I'm not crying."

"Not on the outside, silly. On the inside."

The boy looks down at the ground, ahh isn't that statement horribly true.

"Its no fun being sad. Let me keep you company to make you happy."

The boy looks shocked. Why would a child do something like this and how could she tell I am so sad?
