I finished writing Unlike Any Other on the 1st of June, 2020. If we didn't have to work from home, I'm not sure I'd have finished it that fast. Yna and Paeng's story, on the other hand, took about a year to finish. I'm not sure why but Renz and Lena's story just flew out of me more naturally.
Anyway, here are some fun facts about Unlike Any Other. I don't particularly think that people are curious but nevertheless, I still want to share them here.
1. I got Renz's first name from Martha Cecilia's Sweetheart 1 which is her first pocketbook that I read.
2. I got Lena's name from Claudine Barretto's character from the movie Kailangan Kita which is about a country lass who lived like a helper in her own family's home. To be fair, it was totally self-imposed...
3. Peñalver is taken from the family name of the lead family in the Mexican soap opera Esmeralda. Graciela, one of the antagonists in that drama is actually the inspiration of my other MC, Katrina Leslie (Yna).
4. Unlike Any Other is taken from the lyrics of the song Thunder by Boys Like Girls. The phrase just fits Lena.
5. I purposely had Renz come from an elite school and Lena study in (insert spoiler here) because I want to be able to have an excuse to write in English!
That's all for now. I really hope you enjoy reading this story because I had fun plotting it out and writing it. I even painstakingly prepared an excel sheet complete with character description and timelines because I wanted to be as thorough as possible.
