Thirty four old Jaycen Prentice stood looking out at the shimmering aqua blue water of his nine foot deep outdoor swimming pool. The hot Atlanta sun beamed down on his back during the mid August day. Standing six-feet-two with grayish green eyes, Jaycen admired the view that he inherited. He sighed as he took in his surroundings before turning to head back into the palatial ten bedroom, six bathroom home that his grandfather had left him.

Jonathan Prentice was a twenty-five year old white oil tycoon when he met Alexis Graham, a beautiful twenty-two year old black woman who was going to law school. Jonathan was an arrogant trust fund-laden young man with blond hair and blue eyes, while Alexis was a struggling student with hazel eyes and long silky black hair. She was the first in her family to go to college and Alexis was going to use that to get out of her environment. That fateful day in the coffee shop changed Jonathan and Alexis' lives forever. Alexis never did become a lawyer, but she did become a black society matron when she married Jonathan in a lavish wedding ceremony that was reportedly rivaled only by the 1981 wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.

Alexis bared Jonathan two children that ironically Jonathan's parents loved more than he did. He never told Alexis that he didn't want any children, but she noticed that her husband was somehow standoffish towards the little light skinned boy and dark skinned girl that ran down the long flight of stairs every morning behind their nanny. Jared Prentice grew up emulating his father, trying to get his attention. Alexis attended every football game and every swim meet her son ever had, while Jonathan always seemed too busy with work or some other excuse he offered up like cold coffee after sitting out for too long. Raina Prentice grew up becoming the woman her mother had wanted to be. She become a lawyer and made Jonathan a lot of money in the process. Although, he never admitted it, Jonathan loved Raina more than the sun and moon in the sky. His debutante biracial daughter became a force to reckoned with.

Jaycen stood at the bottom of the staircase looking up at the landing remembering the story his mother had told him about her wedding day. He shuddered at the thought of his dark skinned black mother wearing a $500,000 gown down the stairs he pushed his sister down years later. Yes, Jaycen had a deep dark secrets that were connected to the house that Jonathan left him two months before in his last will and testament. But, those secrets would have to stay dead and buried... for now. Jaycen had to drop his seventeen year old son off at his new school.

"Boy, hurry up! You don't want to be late for your first day of school and I need to get to work!" Jaycen yelled up the stairs, as he shook his thoughts away.

Just as he turned to walk away, his teenage son began to walk slowly down the stairs

Just as he turned to walk away, his teenage son began to walk slowly down the stairs. Standing six feet even with green eyes and light skin like his father, Avis walked down the stairs wearing a crisp white dress shirt and black khaki pants. He was wearing white Air Force Ones to add that street appeal. He smirked as he stared at his father, who every girl and boy he knew thought looked like his twin.

"Chill, old man. I want to get to school on time, just as much as you wanna get me there. I was just walking around in that big ass closet of mine. Dad, I still can't get over this."
