I stared at my hands. For the most part, there's no scars. But the blood I have on them...

It's not visible, but I know it's there.

"Percy?" Mom poked her head inside the door. "You okay?"

"Yeah. Just thinking."

She walked in and sat next to me. "Anything you want to talk about?"

"I, uh...no."

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I told you, I'm just thinking."

Mom sighed and shook her head. "I used to be able to tell when you were lying. You spend too much time with your cousin's kids."

"Hey, I get along with them. And I got them to stop trying to light my cabin on fire." It only took how long?

Without warning Mom pulled me into a tight hug. I didn't hug back. I stared over her shoulder and waited for her to release me.

"I'm not letting you go until you give me a hug."

"You're hugging me. Let me go. I want to go to bed."

"Not until you return the hug."

I sighed and wrapped my arms around her. "There. Now let me go."

"No, I lied. I'm just going to hold you."

"Mom." I groaned. "I wanna sleep."

"You were missing for a long time. I just want...I just need to be sure you're here. That you're not just a hallucination."

"I'm real. Trust me. I mean I had to fight with Dad so he'd let me come back. If it was up to him, I'd be living with him right now."

Mom laughed and kissed my head. "He's protective. He wanted me to come live closer, but you could imagine how that would have went over with his wife."

"I don't know. She's nice and she knew Dad was going to cheat on her when they got married. I mean, you two would get along great."

She finally released me and I rolled my shoulders. She has such a tight grip that it hurts.

"Just so you know, I might go out later if I can't sleep and- Don't look at me like that, we both know I can take care of myself."

"Is a mother not allowed to worry?" Mom asked with a chuckle. "If you do, be careful. I don't want you getting hurt and make sure you try to sleep before leaving. Promise?"

"Yeah I promise, Mom. See you in the morning."

She got up and closed my door behind her. I stayed sitting up, staring at my bracelet.

I've run through every possibility of what this could be, from some invulnerability thing to even a bow. So far, none of them seem to be right.

I'll ask Dad on Friday.

And if it turns out this is actually from Triton and not him, I'm going to stab my brother and then go see Tyson.

I slid it off of my wrist and sat it on my dresser. I don't want to lose this.

And yes, I am fully aware that I promised Mom that I would try to sleep. And I am also aware that about three or four days is the most you can go without dying, but I slept not too long ago so I should be fine.

I changed out of my pajamas into jeans, a shirt, and a jacket I had stolen from the Hermes's cabin loot pile. It might have been mine originally but I have no idea.

Slipping Riptide into my pocket, I opened a window. I stepped out onto the ledge and edged myself around the fire escape. I relaxed when my feet hit metal. Sure, there's no lava but I know Zeus will try to count me falling as me being in his domain, especially after this last vote.

"A bit late to be out. Going somewhere?"

I immediately swung a punch at the source of the voice. Whoever it was, clearly wasn't expecting it because I punched them right off of the railing.

A moment later and they were back.

"Okay, that was my fault but where'd you learn to swing a punch like that? Maybe I could stop by and get some tips."

"Who are you?" I stared at them.

Well, him based off of the voice and frame.

"Spider-Man."

Well I got the him thing right. And also the entirety of Cabin Six would be freaking out right now. Or not, he doesn't exactly look like a spider.

"Can I ask your name or will you punch me off of this again?"

"Depends on my mood. Now if you excuse me, I need to get out of here before my mom finds out I ducked out."

"I get that. Why are you sneaking out?"

"You're awfully nosey for a spider."

"Curiosity killed the cat, not the spider. I want to make sure you're safe and all, you know, not getting into any trouble. I gotta watch out for people."

"I can watch out for myself."

"Obviously based on how you didn't know I was there until I said something."

"You didn't dodge my punch."

"I wasn't expecting it and it was faster than I've seen jocks throw a dodgeball."

"You should try lighting them on fire. It's a lot more fun. Now if you excuse me-" I ran down the escape before jumping onto a dumpster, closed thankfully. "I really want to get some pizza."

"Try Leo's! Or Jerry's!"

I chuckled as I rushed away. Like I'm actually going to get pizza this late at night. I'd much rather have a cheeseburger.

Not like it matters much. Food is food and if we can steal it, it's free.
