"Percy! Dinner!"

I groaned and rolled out of bed before trudging out to the kitchen. I froze in the doorway, staring at Peter.

"Percy, this is Peter and his aunt May. Peter, May, this is my daughter Percy." Mom introduced while fixing the plates with food.

"Hi." I waved before sitting next to Paul.

Mom sat a plate in front of me and I smiled at her. When everyone else started eating, I just pushed the food on my plate around, not really hungry.

"Percy, eat it." Paul looked over at me.

"I'm...not really hungry. I ate at Dad's before I came home. Oh and, uh, speaking of Dad he wants me to come stay with him every so often."

"Is he giving me a choice with this?" Mom sighed.

"Not really. He said I could come willingly, he could come get me or he'd send someone."

"Who would he send?" Peter asked.

"Probably my older brother." I sighed and finally took a bite of food. A smile spread across my face. "I've missed you. And your food. Dad may be good at a lot of things, but cooking is not one of them."

"I could have told you that. He almost burnt down the cabin." Mom chuckled.

"How long were you staying there?" Peter asked, his head tilted slightly.

"I think it was just for the night." I said, looking back at my plate. I honestly have no idea how long I was there. After...

I shook my head to clear my thoughts. "Yeah, just for the night. Forgot what day it was for a minute."

"So, where were you when you were missing?" May asked after an awkward silence.

"Well, California mainly. I woke up in the middle of the woods with amnesia. Which is why I couldn't call home right away. And the voicemail I got was cause some people may or may not have wanted me dead at the time."

"What else is new?" Mom rolled her eyes. "Did Grover start eating enchiladas?"

"Why would people want you dead?" Peter's gaze became concerned.

"People just tend to think the worst about me. I mean when I was twelve they thought I kidnapped my mom and blew up the St Louis Arch. Next thing you know they'll be saying I destroyed a bridge too."

He nodded and went back to eating.

Somehow Mom managed to change the conversation and get it onto how some kid named Ned is doing. I think he's Peter's friend but I'm not sure cause I wasn't paying attention.

But when do I ever?

We had almost made it to dessert, which based off of the smell is chocolate chip cookies, when a phone rang.

Peter pulled out his phone and fumbled before answering it.

"Uh, h-hi Mr Stark! Do you need anything? Because I can come- oh uh, yeah I'm kinda having dinner right now but I can- okay. Okay right. Thank you Mr Stark. I'll see you tomorrow and I promise I won't be late and if I- bye."

"So you're going to the Tower tomorrow I take it?" May raised an eyebrow.

"Tower?" I questioned.

"I have an internship with Mr Stark. I help him out in the lab when he wants me to, it's really awesome."

I nodded. "Cool."

It's sorta like the relationship I have with the gods in a way.

"Thanks for the meal Sally. We'll have to have you guys over sometime." May smiled at my mom.

"It's not an issue, and you don't need to do that. I know it has to be hard with a growing teenager in your house. Percy can eat enough for an army."

"Hey!"

Mom ignored my outburst and turned to pull a cookie sheet out of the oven, turning off the timer. "Here, take some-"

"Percy!" She and Paul yelled at the same time.

I looked at her, then Paul, then down to the hot pan which I was holding with my bare hands. Oh...

"Oh my God! Are you okay!?" Peter rushed over and took the cookie sheet, with pot holders. He sat it on the stovetop before staring at my hands. "How aren't you burnt?"

Oh.

That might be why Mom was freaking out.

"Heat calluses." I said. "I know some kids who like trying to light my cabin at camp on fire. Which is weird considering the fact it's not flammable like at all but it's not the weirdest thing they've done."

"Either way, we better look at that. Go run it under some water." Mom practically shoved me towards the bathroom before saying a hasty goodbye to Peter and May.

I walked into the bathroom and sat on the edge of the bathtub.

Soon enough Mom came in and leaned against the doorframe. "Are you okay?"

"It takes a lot to burn me Mom. And besides-" I turned on the water before wrapping some around my hands. "-I could always do this."

She sighed and knelt on the floor in front of me before pulling me into a hug. "I know, but I wasn't talking about that."

I wrapped my arms around her and rested my head on her shoulder. "I'm just tired."

"So are you just going to go to bed or are you going to eat some cookies?" She ran a hand through my hair.

Before I could answer, I was pulled away from her.

"Come on Percy. Let's get you to bed." Paul lifted me up.

"I want to eat some cookies."

"Percy, they'll be there in the morning and you look exhausted."

"Yeah but I still want cookies!"
