Today was just a normal day. Inklings and jellyfishes hanging around the square. You were sitting on a bench near the lobby, watching today's Off The Hook news report. The stages for turf war today were.. Starfish Mainstage and Inkblot Academy. That's pretty alright. Ranked mode for this hour was Clam Blitz, heh. And league battles.. Splatzones. Nothing really new. "Let's try a little somethin' new today. I call it Inkopolis Fashion Focus!" Pearl spoke up. Oh? Usually it would just end here, But it looks like Off The Hook has added something new to their daily reports it seems. Well, that's what you assumed. Distant gasps could be heard from other squids, They must be as surprised as you are. "Uh, Pearl... What are you doing? I don't see this on the script." Marina nervously sweat, taken aback by this. 'Ah, So.. This isn't on script.—' You thought while you sweatdropped. And here you hoped something new would pop up. Well, no problem. "Relax! We're just gonna spotlight some fresh new styles around Inkopolis!" Pearl assured Marina. Fashion, huh? Marina responded with, "Pearl! Did you even run this by our producer?!" She panicked. Yep, this is definitely off script. "NOPE! Let's dive right into our first feature!" Pearl just brushed it off and continued, "All the cool squidkids in town seem to be sporting these weird hairstyles lately..." "Squidkids? Oh... Um... Right." Marina slightly gulped. "At this rate, it's only a matter of time before this thing is a full-on fad!" Pearl exclaimed, Then putting a finger on her chin, "Although, I feel like I've seen these weird hairstyles somewhere before..." Marina quickly spoke up, "All right, Pearl-I'm getting word that we're out of time for this segment!". "Ugh, fine. Be sure to tune in next time for more Inkopolis Fashion Focus!" Pearl spoke. "And when exactly is "next time" going to be?" Marina asked, not really sure if this whole idea was going to be accepted by their producer. "Eh... Pretty sure we peaked on that one, so probably never." Pearl shrugged. Click. You turned off your phone at stood up, Time for a round of turf war! As soon as you entered the lobby, you noticed the 'inklings' with those 'weird hairstyles' Pearl mentioned. Err... Round ears, Suction cups on the outside of their tentacles, no band connecting the inkling mask around the eyes.. Could it be? And to think Octarians didn't really exist anymore. Well, turns out they still do! You decided to approach one of them, You were very curious at this point. "Uhm, Excuse me? You're an Octoling right?" You asked a male who seems just about your age, holding his blaster. "Hmm? Yes, i am! And so are my friends, Nana, Pony and Afro! It's nice to meet you, My name is Hachi!" He introduced himself. Aww.. So nice and cute too! You couldn't help but feel a bit flustered by this. Hachi held out a hand for you to shake, which you did and introduced yourself as well, "I'm (Y/N), nice to meetcha too!" You giggled before you heard the timer go off, meaning that the battle was going to begin.

Hm. It doesn't seem like you're in the same team as Hachi is, Well, Even if he's a nice fella, you're not going to go easy on him in this turf battle! You grabbed your (f/w) tightly and popped out of the respawn point with your teammates and shook off any excess ink.

You inked a bit of the spawn in (i/c) ink and went for the middle, covering the ground with your ink. Two of your teammates were still inking the spawn grounds while the last teammate was helping you out in the center. Alright, everything is going swell! Your team has taken over the middle of the map, You should be able to infiltrate their spawn! You inked your way there, and—

Oh yeesh!.. Almost a team wipe! This isn't good. You didn't expect to get taken down this easily!.. 'No worries!.. We can just respawn and retry again!' You thought to yourself and gave your teammates a booyah to motivate them as well.

You had to admit, this was getting intense. Very. And before you could even react, The second last teammate remaining got splatted right behind you!

You quickly moved along and tried to reclaim as much turf as you could, realizing that the middle had been claimed by the opposite team.

The clock was ticking, You and another teammate attempted to reclaim the centre while the other two teammates were holding the opposite team back.

There was a gap in the opponent's defense, you took that chance to enter their spawn and ink as much as you could in (i/c) with your (f/c).

"Watch out!—" You heard one of your teammates cry to warn you.

You quickly turned around and attempted to splat whoever was behind you, It was Hachi.
Match ended!
Welp. You and Hachi were just staring at each other, you didn't manage to eliminate him but, goodgame. The octoling gave you a nice smile.
The results of the match were announced, and team (I/C) won! You brightened up, and did your victory dance with your team before you went up to the other team and let them know they did a great job. When you turned around to go get a shwaffle, Someone tapped your shoulder. "Hey, (Y/N), Right? You did very well during the battle! Would you like to eat with my team at Crusty Sean's?" Hachi offered, pink dust covering his cheeks. "Why thank you and of course!" You accepted his offer with a bright smile, only increasing his blush.
