Waking up to my alarm clock at 5:00 am, I reluctantly sat up in bed with a long yawn. Suddenly, I remembered the events from last night and sighed.

What a horrible start of my new life... I knew small towns were weird sometimes but I never would have guessed that gorgeous naked perverts lived in Twisp.

Like with every complication I ran into, I sighed and pushed the thought of his body to the back of my mind.

After my morning routine I quickly changed into my workout clothes and left the house. I wouldn't say that I'm ripped, but I'm definitely well-built for a woman. I wouldn't let the odd encounter interfere with my love for the woods.

I ran for about 2 miles into the forest before I came across a creek. The sunlight trickled onto the forest floor and ferns and moss scattered around the bank of the flowing water. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, I was finally at peace.

Suddenly I heard twigs snap behind me and I quickly turned my head to face the origin of the noise.

So much for peace.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a gorgeous man with black hair and twinkling blue eyes, his body was encased in a brown heavy jacket and a pair of black joggers.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, I just live up the road" his voice sounded off, almost suppressed as his lips spread apart in a small grin. Again, my nose was overtaken with the scent that it had just rained.

How odd...

Useless, I thought to myself, staring at her body in the full light of day

Useless, I thought to myself, staring at her body in the full light of day.

Having a human as a mate wasn't right- it wasn't the Twisp legacy. Because of her I'll be known as the weak Alpha with a human for a mate. Because of this sorry excuse for a mate...

I held back a growl, I was already feeling pressure from other packs as I am rather young for an alpha, just 25.

After last night I had left my parents in anger, destroying every punching bag inside the pack house. My Beta, Sebastian, and Gamma, Jenna, tried to calm me down with no success and I didn't get an ounce of sleep.

Today I had decided to find her... just to make sure my parents were right. Tracking down her scent was easy as she wasn't too far from the pack house when I set out to find her.

She must live close by.

My parents were right. Now that the first wave of the mate bond had passed, I could smell past that delicious fragrance of chocolate and cinnamon and the scent of human was overwhelming.

Suddenly everything about her that I felt was beautiful was now pitiful.

I can't lead a pack with a human let alone have her in my bed every night.

But I couldn't stay away from her.

Quickly my train of thought was disrupted by her soft, velvety voice, "Oh, it's nice to meet you. I'm new in town actually, my name is Amelia Rose," she smiled and stepped closer, extending her hand.

I had lowered my voice with the hope that she wouldn't recognize me from last night. I nodded, "I'm Christopher, Christopher Twisp," I clenched my jaw and stared at her hand, begging for me to touch it, knowing that the spark between us would be obvious, I decided to ignore it.

"Oh like the town?" She laughed awkwardly, still waiting for her gesture to be accepted.

"Exactly like the town" I crossed my arms, refusing to give her the satisfaction.

"Ah..." she nodded, finally giving up as her hand dropped.

A wave of awkwardness descended upon us as she avoided my intimidating stare.

Amelia... why couldn't you be normal? Normal... well that wasn't entirely fair. She was normal in her world, just not mine. Sadly, there is no such thing as second chance mates otherwise I would reject her right this instant.

Breaking the silence she smiled once more, "Know a good place to get something to eat? I'm starving actually,"

"Are you asking me out?" I raised a brow.

She blushed ever so slightly, looking down once more and shaking her head she muttered, "No... sorry if it seemed like I was," her reaction was certainly entertaining.

I chuckled, "I'm pulling your leg, Amy" my own words shocked me.

Amy? Since when did I like nicknames? The mate bond was taking its toll on my actions and feelings.

She was repulsive but I couldn't help but tease her, couldn't help but want to touch her. I found my eyes wandering her body, and an image of her naked without those pesky pieces of fabric flashed in my mind.

Stupid mate bond.

Her cheeks reddened and she brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, surprised with my sudden familiarity.

To break the awkward silence I croaked, "Mimi's Diner," she looked up, finally holding direct eye contact, I could have sworn I saw a glimmer of something shining in her eyes.

"Best pie in all of Washington," I finally smiled genuinely, proud of my Pack's achievement. Mimi is the mother of Sebastian, their family had owned the diner for decades and just recently they had changed the diner's name in her honor.

"I'll take your word for it," she smiled once more as uncomfortable silence fell upon us.

"It was nice to meet you..." she uttered, reaching to shake my hand once more before she retracted it, remembering my previous rejection. At this point her face was as red as a tomato before she began to scamper off.

I didn't respond as I watched her leave, her backside curved to perfection with her curls falling down her back. A low possessive growl began in the back of my throat before I quickly stopped the noise by clearing my throat with a cough.

Amy wasn't so bad... but she certainly wasn't Luna material. Not now, not ever. Only avoiding her in such a small town would certainly be difficult.
