"What the—?"

My eyebrows furrowed, staring at the machine in confusion and slight irritation. It all started with an innocent idea that lead to this rather confusing situation.

There (supposedly) was a meeting around 5 or 6 in my group. Being the early one among us (or something), I accidentally arrived super early, and so, I decided to kill some time and roam around town for a bit. Besides, I'd be able to get there in time!

...hopefully.

Anyways, I stumbled across this arcade built not so long ago, and had only opened up recently: a week ago, specifically. Due to curiosity, I decided to explore more of this place, even making future plans to bring my friends to this place. I got my tokens, and then started to aimlessly test out literally every single machine there was in the room.

Then, I saw this glowing contraption in the darker parts of the room. There were glowing neon lights, and then a floor with four arrows facing towards four different directions. It was then I realized it was Dance Dance Revolution. And because of that, I played the machine, and somehow, it won't work.

For the past few minutes I've been staring at the machine in confusion, until a girl, who looked just to be around my age range, stood next to me on the dance floor, inserted a token, and with surprise, the game then moved on from its former state.

She then looks at me, signalling for me to choose, since I was the first one to start the game. With a jolt, I did as she says, and the song began. I expected a lot from this girl, but this was one thing I didn't expect.

With the loudest of laughter and the stupidest of grins, the game ends with the lowest score that could ever happen in this arcade. None of us even got any of the steps correct! It was stupid, and yet hilarious.

"Oh my god, we didn't even get any steps correct!" She exclaims, clutching her stomach as she laughs loudly. It wasn't like those cute giggles all anime girls do: her laugh was booming, natural, and uncontrolled.

"We both suck, oh my god—" My statement was cut off from the laugh we resounded in sync, gaining the attention of the strangers passing by. We were shot with weird looks, but we didn't care. It felt as if the world only revolved with the two of us.

"Hey!" My thoughts were cut off by the female standing next to me with a toothy grin, feeling the smallest bit of mischief in her close-eyed smile.

"Whoever gets the most tickets win! Whaddya say?!"

"Oh, it's on."

...

...no one won.

We both barely got any tickets, always failing at nearly every single game we played. It didn't matter, though - we enjoyed every single second passing by with the both of us together. A smile plastered on our face, and even tears of laughter escaping our eyes.

It was true happiness.

We eventually lost track of time, and with all the tickets we garnered, we could only buy a minimum amount of things from the ticket booth situated near the token counter. So, with that, we headed over there.
