LEENA POV

I woke groggily on the soft forest ground. Laying beside Xui. i watched his face shift in sleep and smiled. He was unusually handsome for an alien. 

I wasn't ashamed to admit seeing him again and having him near me made me so content. My body heated thinking of how well he had grown up. His chest and shoulder were broad and strong. his face chiseled with a sharp jaw and full lips no male should possess

Speaking of lips. it took considerable effort to not ogle them every minute of the day. Even now as he slept i openly allowed myself to admire them. wondering how they would feel against mine own. they looked so soft and supple.

Inviting.

I should be upset after what i learned last night. How his people had nefarious plans for my own, but shamelessly i wasn't.

I  knew Xui had no hand in that horrific plot. Still i felt guilty out of loyalty to my species. 

I scoffed inwardly. What loyalty? From what the medical Outsiders said our own species sold us out and for what? Tech. 

A cough nearby tore my gaze away from Xui. I silently stood to release myself, shivering at the gust of cool air that blew across my partially exposed flesh.

We desperately needed warmer clothing or we would not survive the coming months.

Cain's eyes met mines as i did. He walked towards me from his spot near Tara.

I groaned inwardly knowing this would probably not be a pleasant conversation

"Hey" he said timidly as he neared

"Hi. i was just going to pee" i admitted hoping to stall

"Ok. i just wanted to talk real quick" 

Dammit!

"Ok" i nodded we walked away from the camp

"Ok what is it?"  i asked impatiently

"I don't know about this Leena. I mean after what that Outsider said last night, are you sure this is still wise?"

"Yes" i answered without Hesitation

"I trust Xui, and his judgment"

Cain gritted his teeth

"He watches you like a possession.  somethings not right about him"

I laughed mockingly

"you mean the way Tara watches you" i countered

"Cain it is my problem isn't it? why are you so concerned?"

I could not understand this guy he had Tara beside him, literally every night yet continues to show jealousy toward me

He stepped closer, invading my personal space

"I care about you Leena you know that" his eyes gazed at me with affection

"I know Cain." i rested my hand on his arm with reassurance

"I care about you too and i care for Xui" he stepped back with a harsh scowl in his face

"Dammit Leena, He is an Outsider" he growled

"He is my friend and i trust him, At least i know he's not torn between two girls" i snap.

"How are you so certain? you don't know anything about his life, He could be married for all you know"

It was my turn to scoff even as his words planted a seed of doubt and hurt in my chest
