Subterfuge

XUI POV

I watched the door long after Leena and my friends escape; disappointment and hurt in her expression. Still i managed to remain stoically unaffected.

 The burning gaze of my uncles scrutiny blazed into me as i fought to control my inner turmoil.  i buried  the sorrow i felt at the thought that Leena would not forgive me for what she had learned

Soon. I promised. Soon she would understand. 

I would explain to her what had truly occurred. That i was held and forced against my will to breed a youngling with the  repulsive women,  but that i did not love nor want anything to do with her. She was a repugnant person. 

A rapist.

I wanted to explain that I didn't turn away from her or us . That I only decided to stay and gather information, they needed to further aid in their rebellion plans. Merdia said the DNA extraction procedure  had worked. He needed to find out exactly what that meant.. What they planned to do now concerning the human women. 

A hard hand gripped his shoulder

"It is best this way my boy. You had your rebellious fun.  Now you must assume your position as the next king, alongside your father". His uncle stated proudly

Xui gritted his teeth and swallowed the fury that threatened to rise

"Yes you are correct. This is where i belong. My duty is to my people" i answered diplomatically 

His  uncle nodded with a smile pleased at his words and false acquiescence

"Your first business is to bond with your chosen female. she now carries your heir that will bring enormous hope and devotion to our people." 

"Yes. You are correct." i faked smiled "I am soon to be a father"  I grinned artificially 

He chuckled as he exited the room

As soon as the door closed behind him a cold sweat broke across my flesh. My heart accelerated to a dangerous speed

I could not, would not bond to that wretched female.  i would sooner  cleave my own heart out.

I needed to buy time to find out the necessary information and escape

But how?

Just then the door reopened and in stepped the deplorable female herself

She squealed with delight at the sight of me in my royal ceremonial garbs

"O Xui. you look so handsome. All my friends were SO jealous of our bonding and now i have a youngling. ugh they will be positively green with envy when its announced".  she gushed 

No he was going to be the one green soon; green with nausea. He swallowed the bile in his throat and forced a smile. He had to play the part. He would never learn all he needed if he was seen as the enemy. They needed to think him complaint. aggregable

Suddenly a thought came to him. He knew now how to stall the bonding. 

Using Merdia's own vanity against her,  Xui looked at her and stroked her face lovingly. His hand itched with the need to strangle her instead, But he pushed it deep down. 

"I'm glad my love. But honestly i am surprised that you would consent to such a quick hastily planned ceremony. You are to be future queen. You deserve a lavish occasion. Full of grandeur. Also many of our peoples most prominent members are not present. They in fact have never even met their future queen. Many may see it as a slight that they did not get the opportunity to meet you or attend our bonding ceremony"....... I paused and sighed dramatically
