"Hermione? Is that you?"

I heard Ginny's voice from outside the cubicle, so I sniffed hard and dried my eyes and gently unlocked the cubicle door. Ginny ran into my arms and hugged me tight.

"I'm going to kill Draco Malfoy," Ginny said into my hair. We broke apart and she hopped up onto the bathroom counter top. "He's been going out with Pansy bloody Parkinson all this time?"

I nodded miserably, hoping I wouldn't start crying again.

"Bloody Slytherins," Ginny said again.

"Bloody Slytherins," I agreed, as an afterthought. "Gin, what do I do? I just feel like he hasn't had any feelings for me at all, all this time, and I've thrown everything out there for him, and..."

"I know the feeling," answered Ginny. "I think we should have some girl time, yeah? Stay away from the Slytherins and their bloody drama, and just keep to ourselves. Any time spent around Draco Malfoy or Pansy Parkinson is time badly spent, in my opinion."

I sniffed again. "I can't believe it," I whispered. "I thought he...he loved me."

"I thought he did, too," sighed Ginny. "You know, I'd actually started to think he was alright."

"So had I," I mumbled.

"Come on," said Ginny. "We can't spend all day in here. Let's go."

I nodded and followed her out of the bathroom. To my surprise, Draco and Pansy were stood arguing right outside the door. Ginny tried to pull me away from them but I couldn't move. I was transfixed.

"You shouldn't have told everyone, Pan!" Draco shouted. Pan....was that what he called his girlfriend? I looked over at Ginny, and could see she was thinking the same thing.

"Oh please, Draco, what does it matter? You're mine again, and we've got an audience, too - blood traitor and a mudblood." Pansy batted her eyelashes at us and hooked her leg around Draco's, throwing her arms around his neck. He looked uncomfortable, but not uncomfortable enough to run into my arms instead.

"Leave us alone!" Snarled Ginny hotly. "And keep your big fat mouth shut, Pansy, it benefits all of us."

Pansy looked as though she'd been slapped around the face, but then she seemed to relax a little.

"You can talk, Weasley, but things are turning in my favour after all. You thought you were done with me after that little love potion stunt. That was only the beginning."

I swallowed hard, and finally spoke up. "Draco...are you really...are we finished with?" I asked, a shaking tremor in my voice.

Draco hesitated. He opened his mouth to speak, but before he could Pansy snaked her tongue inside and kissed Draco right in front of us until I was positively shaking with rage.

Once they parted, Pansy licked her lips and  Draco stormed off down the corridor, his face a burning red.

"Does that answer your question?" Asked Pansy sweetly. She pulled her wand from out of her robes and pressed it to my neck. Ginny took out her wand and was about to disarm Pansy when Pansy cast a hex of her own and Ginny was sent flying into the wall.

Her wand returned to my neck as she whispered, "Stay away from Draco. You can't help him now, mudblood - he has a job to do, and he's going to finish it. There's nothing you can do."

She removed her wand and went slipping down the corridor, leaving me free to run to Ginny's side.

"Are you okay?" I asked quickly. "Can you hear me?"

"Yeah," Ginny mumbled sleepily. "I'll be all right, 'Mione, just help me up."

I pulled her to my feet and looked down the corridor after Pansy. Ginny rubbed her head and seemed to somewhat return to her usual self.

"What is going on between Draco and Pansy," I shook my head, talking more to myself than to Ginny. I clenched my fists subconsciously. "They're hatching a plan, Gin. I'm going to find out what it is."

Ginny nodded and grabbed my hand. "You need to get your mind off those stupid Slytherins for one minute, Hermione," she said firmly. "I've got someone to cheer you up."

Ginny pulled me into the great hall, where Luna was sitting quietly at the Gryffindor table, picking at her food and looking interestedly at the rowdy Gryffindors sitting a few seats down from her.

"Hermione," Ginny said abruptly, sitting down opposite Luna. I noticed her face was a little red. "I really hope you like lesbians, because me and Luna are going out."

"Oh, Ginny!" I squealed happily. I threw my arms around her neck and hugged her and Luna in turn. "I'm so happy for you. At least some people have successful relationships."

"Yes," said Luna dreamily, looking over at the Slytherin table. "Draco Malfoy looks very upset. Have you two stopped seeing each other?"

I stared at the floor, feeling my cheeks burn red. Had we stopped seeing each other, and so soon? Was it the end of Hermione and Draco?
