INFINITE CHAPTER FOUR
✧ POWER ✧

"In case it's unclear: You try to escape, you so much as scratch that glass...,"

Loki now stood in the large glass enclosure in the helicarrier while Director Fury stood opposite him outside the cell. He pushed a button, revealing a gaping hole below Loki.

"Thirty thousand feet, straight down in a steel trap. You get how that works?!" Fury yelled above the rushing winds. He closed the hatch and pointed at Loki. "Ant,"

Then, he pointed at the button. "Boot,"

"It's an impressive cage. Not built, I think, for me," Loki said slyly.

"Built for something a lot stronger than you," The director nodded.

"Oh, I've heard," Loki said. "The mindless beast makes play that he's still a man. How desperate are you, that you call upon such lost creatures to defend you?"

"How desperate am I?" Fury repeated incredulously. "You threaten my world with war. You steal a force you can't hope to control. You talk about peace and you kill 'cause it's fun. You have made me very desperate. You might not be glad that you did,"

"Ooh. It burns you to come so close. To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power. And for what?" Loki taunted.

The demigod paused, letting his taunt sink into the silence. In those brief moments, Brooklyn tried to deduce what Loki was insinuating— a habit of her Bat family, and she did not like where she was getting to.

"A warm light for all mankind to share, and then to be reminded what real power is," Loki threatened.

"Well, you let me know if Real Power wants a magazine or something," Fury uttered sarcastically before leaving Loki in the glass cell.

When the director was no longer in view of the camera, Loki looked up at it, smirking like he knew someone was watching him.

Director Fury told her this was an extraction mission for her father, Agent Clint Barton, who was compromised and brainwashed by the very man in the cell. The Tesseract would be the means of locating him, but from everything that had occurred so far, it would seem that this cube was more important than Agent Barton.

The very people in the room around her, in their ridiculous red costumes, were proof that Director Fury put all hands on deck for this Tesseract.

Now, Brooklyn learned that the Tesseract was a source of power— unlimited power, according to Loki. It was clearly otherworldly for someone like Loki to have been looking for it. Brooklyn was certain that S.H.I.E.L.D. knew they not only lost something dangerous, but an asset of incredible value.
