THE LEGEND OF THE HOODED ARCHER was a whisper of hope during wartime. It was a children's story reminding them that someone good was out there, even if the world was plagued by evil. The story inspired them to do what was right: to fight.
That was all it ever was—a story.
The Hooded Archer wasn't real. Amidst a war fought by men armed with guns and bombs, what good was a hooded figure armed with sticks and strings?
The arrows were a hoax. Even if each one hit their evil targets every night, how much hope could an archer inspire when the soldiers fought on the battlefield?
The real heroes, new propaganda proclaimed, were those men. And the closest thing to a legend? Captain America.
LITTLE DID THEY KNOW, the Legend was real — albeit in a different universe. The archer was a hero, just as the stories say, and she wasn't alone. She protected the Earth with the rest of the Justice League from dangers beyond their understanding.
In her universe, Brooklyn Natalie was a real, living person. Well, between the Kryptonian, the Intergalactic Lantern Corps, and the Gotham Crazies... life was normal.
Until it wasn't.
Brooklyn Natalie died. Granted, it was a bloodless demise. Her soul was erased from her universe when her timeline was reset, courtesy of John Constantine's magic. The Flash reset the board and saved the world, but it only worked because she had to be taken out of the equation.
She accepted her fate, if it meant her family was safe. Brooklyn Natalie welcomed death, not whatever this was.
This... was waking up in another universe that doubted her existence.
The Hooded Archer was an urban myth. Captain America was the living Legend.
When Captain America was found alive, they said he was a man out of his time. Well, Brooklyn Natalie was out of her universe.
