Chapter 9 ~Adam~

Wylan and Jesper came back inside hand in hand looking ready to make out at anytime.

"Remind me to stay away from their room when I can't sleep tonight." Ronan whispered in my ear.

"Lynch," I hissed flicking him in the neck.

"Ow," he pouted at me.

Wylan took a seat on the couch next to the snuggling Blue and Gansey and Jesper sat on the arm next to him. Nina was draped in another arm chair and Inej and Kaz stood in front of everyone like the leaders they were probably used to being.

"Where's the Shu Han?" Wylan asked looking around.

"Who?" Blue turned to look at him.

"The other boy. What was his name? Kenny?"

"It's Henry," Henry corrected emerging from the bathroom. "Just because I don't have a cool power doesn't mean I'm not important. Plus, I'm Korean, not Ku San."

"Shu Han, and what do you mean by 'cool power'?" Jesper asked.

Ronan shot Henry a death glare. "Fantastic fucking job, Cheng."

Henry tried to stare back, but only Blue was powerful enough to survive Ronan's glare.

"Ronan, we're gonna have to share some stuff at some point." Gansey intervened.

"I'm not going first."

"Jesper has already gone," Henry pointed out. "So technically you wouldn't be first."

Ronan ignored this comment. "Sargent, how 'bout you go?"

Blue rolled her eyes. "You are so selfish sometimes."

"Sometimes?" Calla murmered from the kitchen.

"Anyway, my ability is making other peoples' ability stronger. I'm an amplifier."

Jesper seemed to have a lightbulb snap on. "You...oh. That makes so much sense. I thought changing the yarn color was too easy."

"So it works on you too?" I asked. How does that work, I wondered, I thought Blue's power only amplified psychic abilities.

Gansey twisted his lip. "That, or it's the strength of the ley line here."

"Ley line?" Nina asked.

I tried my best to explain it. "Their like these stores of energy that run under the ground. Most of them are dorment, but ours is awake."

"Thanks to Adam," Ronan, Gansey, and Blue bit.

"So it's stronger." I finished a little awkwardly.

"How did you wake it?" Inej asked.

"Oh..." I scratched the back of my head. "I made a deal with it."

"More like a sacrifice," Blue said.

"What did you sacrifice?" Kaz asked.

"My eyes and hands for it to wake up."

"Interesting," Kaz mused.

"I don't have anything." Inej said. "But I am a trained acrobat that was then kidnapped and turned into an assassin and now I own a ship and steal from slavers."

Henry scoffed. "You know you hang with the fun crowd when the one with 'nothing going for them' is an assassin pirate acrobat."

Wylan raised his finger. "Actually I'm probably the most normal one."

Ronan and Jesper shook their heads. "Doubtful."

I looked at Ronan with an eyebrow raised.

"What?" He shrugged. "Me and the merch bonded. Apprently he runs a business."

"And he can make explosives." Jesper added.

Ronan's face brighten dangerously. "I didn't know about that."

Gansey cleared his throat. "So I've died twice."

"And he wears boat shoes," Blue looked down at Gansey's feet. "all the time."

Gansey looked at his shoes self consciously. Blue laughed and kissed him on the cheek.

"Your turn, Tattoo," Kaz said.

Ronan hesisted for a moment but he tried to cover it up as looking uniterested. He fiddled with his braceltets and swallowed. "I can take things out of my dreams."

Everyone but Wylan stared at him.

"I'm sorry, what?" Nina asked.
