baek taehyun looks at the hotel name and looks at his uncle, "are you sure this is the place?" taehyun asks his uncle, kyle moore. they might not look alike, but their blood is indeed shared. taehyuns mother being an american who is siblings with kyle.
kyle looks at taehyun and nods, "im sure it is, now let's go in. im dieing to see how the inside looks" kyle exclaims patting his nephews back before walking ahead
taehyun follows behind his uncle and walks in the hotel. they were already welcomed with many americans, it seemed like the majority in the hotel were american.
"welcome" a female voice says getting the attention of taehyun and kyle
"ive never seen you two before, are you here to stay?" the lady asks in her best english, "yes, we're in for the american legation" taehyun replies in korean
though he hasn't been able to speak korean to anyone living in america, he has become use to speaking english. he still managed to remember his korean through out the years. his way of pronouncing words wasn't the best, but it was enough to understand.
"you surely don't look american" the lady says, "i thought this hotel was japanese-owned" taehyun remarks back
the lady chuckles at his remark and smiles, "im the owner of this hotel, kudo hina" hina introduces bowing slightly, taehyun does the same "baek taehyun"
kyle watched his nephew communicate with the lady not knowing what they were talking about. taehyun takes the keys, "we have a room now, let's leave our bags in our rooms and walk around joseon? im feeling real tired" taehyun suggests to his uncle who agrees

"your sister, hyumi is she still in japan?" kyle asks taehyun as they walked down the streets of joseon, the place taehyun was now unfamiliar with
taehyun nods, "yeah, she's a pianist in a music industry. she seems to enjoy it over there, and made close friends.. she's coming to joseon this week actually, im excited to see her" taehyun replies smiling as he looked at the floor
the mention of him being able to see his younger sister which he hasn't seen in years makes him happy. he finally gets to see his sister that he didn't see grow up, he only wishes to go back into time to get to see his sister grow up. instead he chose to be in the army while his sister grew up without having the brother she needs. though the two siblings still kept in contact with each other, they were both busy not being able to send letters all the time.
it was an unusual sight to see taehyun smile. he never seemed to smile even when he was happy, he showed a straight serious face.
"my, my your smiling" kyle teases causing taehyun to look at his uncle with the same serious face, "im happy to know my nephew and niece are going to reunite" kyle says trying to lighten the mood to how it was
"how does it feel being back to your hometown?" kyle asks
taehyun takes in a deep breath and looks around, "i feel.. normal.. I guess im still a bit upset from what happened to me here a long time ago" taehyun answers looking at the happy people
"..the memories just keep coming back even when i try my best to forget" taehyun continues
he felt a sudden pain in his chest. a pain he wasn't yet was very familiar with. taehyun continued to walk trying his best to ignore the pain. taehyun gulps feeling a lump starting to form in his throat.
taehyun is a cold man, or became a cold man due to his past memories that scarred him. memories that are still left in his heart. if taehyun was honest he misses the old days. the old days where everything was going well for him and his family. when his family were together and inseparable.
when his mother was okay and could properly sing him lullabys to bed. oh how he misses her voice. her voice was music to her ears. her voice was soft and delicate. her voice made his heart warm up, her voice made him forget of all his worries and troubles. her voice hugged him in comfort. he could still hear her soft singing voice, but he wanted to hear her in real life, not just his imagination.
just thinking of his mother's voice made him want to cry, but he didn't. taehyun promised himself he would never cry again, he hopes to keep that promise for a long time.
