Beep! Beep! Beep!

With a groan, I roll over and put my pillow over my head to try and ignore my alarm clock. I know I need to get up, but the thought of sleeping in more just sounds so alluring. As the alarm continues to drone on getting louder and louder. I finally get up and turn it off with a glare. I stretch and grab my phone before heading to the bathroom. "Time to face the day," I mumble to myself. Setting it down on the counter, I look in the mirror. The girl looking back at me looks tired with extremely bad bed hair. "Now how am I going to fix this mess?" I say as I begin to detangle my curls from themselves without hurting myself in the process.

Ding! Ding!

I look at my phone and see two messages from Kara on my phone. I click it open to see:

Heeeeeeey! Girl, you up yet? I'm stopping by so we can walk to campus together.

I shake my head and smile. Kara really is something else, but I'm so glad she and I became friends. She's really changed my life for the better, and I don't know what I would do without her.

~Flashback to two years ago~

I'm taking random pictures of campus life for my school project. I'm about to call it a day and pack up when I see her. This girl sitting by the old, oak tree, in the middle of the campus's ground, reading a magazine with her pastel pink hair falling around her. She looks so focused on whatever she's looking at. Without thinking, I put my camera up to my eye and snap a quick shot. I then begin packing up when I hear someone clear their throat behind me. I turn and look only to see it's the pink hair girl staring me down with a slight glare. What the heck? Wasn't she just over there?  "Hey," I get cut off as she holds her hand up.

"Did you take a picture of me without asking me for permission first?" She harshly asks me.

My eyes widen a bit in surprise as I quickly say, "I wasn't being creepy. Well, that makes it sound like I was, but it's for a school project, I swear." I ramble out.

She raises a perfectly shaped eyebrow at me before saying, "Right, I'm sure that's what a creepy stalker would say. You so weren't taking pictures of me." She flips her hair over her shoulder and looks at me with an outstretched hand. "Camera. Now."

"Firstly, I can prove it's for a school project. I'm a photography student after all. Secondly, I'm not giving you my camera; I worked way too many shifts at the cafe to pay for this." I tell her as I cross my arms. "If it's such a big deal, I can delete it for you. Most people don't have a problem with it, so I'm sorry I assumed you wouldn't." I tell her with a shrug.

She keeps her hand outstretched, but I make no move to grab it out of my bag. After a small showdown of us glaring at each other. She sighs and removes her hand. "Show me the picture if I like it, you can use it. If I don't, you never take my picture again, understand?" She sternly points at me.

"Deal," I say as I retrieve my camera from my bag. I turn it back on and scroll through my pictures to hers. "Here you are." I show it to her.

Her eyes widen slightly in surprise. "You took that?" She looks at me in disbelief before looking back at the picture. I nod at her then go to put it back in my bag. "Okay, you can use it. However, you better ask me next time or else." She tells me as she walks away with a wave of her hand. Neither of us knew that day that we were going to become the best of friends due to this little incident.

~End of Flashback~

I jerk out of my thoughts as I hear a knock at my door. Leaving the bathroom, I walk over to the peephole to see it's her. "Speak of the devil," I mumble as I open the door with a smile. "Hey Kara, I see you're ready as ever," I tell her as I move, so she can come inside. She has her lavender-pink hair tied back in a sleek, high ponytail that flows in waves down her back. Her skirt swishing slightly as she strides in with the soft click of her kneehigh boots. "Is that a new top?" I ask her as I shut the door.
