Monday. The bad luck day as I come to think of it. Not to be dramatic, but I've dreaded this day since first grade when I realized that sleeping late and staying up all night wasn't and option anymore. It's not like I ever cared. I still stay up late because who even cares.

After brushing my teeth, I get dressed in like I actually took my time today with some sneakers. I wear so many sneakers and own a ton because they're comfortable. I should start organizing them so they'll be easier to find. But let's face it, I'm too lazy and I just don't care.

Lastly, I wrap my hair into a simple high ponytail before grabbing my things and skipping downstairs. Walking into the kitchen after hearing voices, I was surprised to see Jalen so early in the morning and at my house.

"Morning kiddo. You've met Officer hunter, my new partner right?" He walks up to me and plants a kiss on my forehead before taking a sip of his hot coffee.

"Mhm," I give Jalen a polite smile.

He returns the smile, a small dimple popping out before he turned to speak to my dad. "Are we still on for later?" He asks, picking up his cup and sipping his own coffee.

I shake my thoughts away so I could stop staring at his beautiful face and reach on top of the refrigerator to grab my famous fruity pebbles. As I grab a bowl from the chocolate brown cabinet, I decided to be nosey and listen to what they were talking about.

"Definitely," My dad nods.

"What are you guys doing?" I ask curiously while eating a spoon full of my cereal after putting the milk away.

"Your dad is showing around the city more. I haven't had much time after I moved," Jalen says with a shrug.

"Oh, that sounds fun. I have to warn you though, my dad is crazier in public." Jalen laughs as my dad rolls his eyes at me. "Don't you have school, ma'am?" He arches his eyebrow at me.

"As a matter of fact, I do. Dylan should be on her-"

My phone vibrates in my pocket suddenly. How odd. I grab it from my back pocket and gape at Dylan's recent message.

Can't pick you up today, I literally just woke up. Aiden is on his way. Sorry, love you!😬💗

"You've got to be kidding me!" I stuff my phone into my front pocket and lean on the kitchen counter, finishing up my cereal. "What is it?" My dad asks.

"Uh, nothing. Just school stuff," I shake my head, placing a piece of fallen hair behind my ear.

"I'm a police officer, Blair. And I know my own daughter. One of my best superpowers is knowing when something is up," I huff out a breath.

He just couldn't be a normal person and been a doctor or something. He always knows when I'm lying. I am so glad I'm not one of those people that loves to go out every night.

If I had to lie to my dad every single time, I'd have no chill social life as I do now.

"I mean, it's not a big deal but Dylan overslept, and Aiden is on his way to pick me up. I'm not in the mood for him," I huff dramatically and sit my empty bowl and dirty spoon into the sink.
