"Sit here or on the beach?" Daniel asked and pointed first at a bench and after that to the beach.

Elvira bit her lip. The beach was lovely, but this bench gave the best views. "Here." But at the beach it was peaceful. "No, the beach," was her final answer and walked away from him, towards the shore.

The tiles made a place for sand. Elvira stopped walking and grabbed Daniel's arm for comfort to take off her shoes. It was evening, meaning the sand wasn't burning into the skin anymore. Daniel kicked his shoes off and made sure the pizza box was stable. They walked towards the sea and picked an excellent spot to seat on the beach.

Daniel opened the pizza box after he took a seat, and the smell of pizza filled their noses. Elvira was impatient on cooking and was lazy to make time for it to cook. They both decided it was the best idea to order pizza. And since it was still warm outside, they decided to eat it somewhere else than at Daniel his home, what happened to be the beach. Daniel wasn't complaining, it was a good idea to do that.

Elvira took a slice and took a bite. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the flavours on her tongue. "This is amazing," she mumbled with her mouth full of pizza. Her opened her eyes and looked at Daniel, who took a bite too. They shared a large pizza, it's cheaper than two smaller ones. "Gosh, I missed this so much." She took the crossed-legged position.

"It is," he sighed satisfied. "Sometimes, your impatience is the best thing at that moment." He looked at her and snorted.

She shook her head and took a second bite. Pizza eating at the beach while seeing the sunset was one of the things Daniel and Elvira did back in the good, old days in Perth. After a long day at school or an activity, they ordered pizza or something else and ate it at the beach. They came up with it after: we want a lovely evening, with food, but not spending too much on it at a restaurant, but we also don't want to have dinner at home.

"It's just like home," Elvira said. Other people on the beach were passing by and were speaking in French. "Besides those French people." She sighed and rolled her eyes.

"True," Daniel mumbled.

"Also like a holiday." She chuckled. "And it's so lovely I have to work the day after tomorrow." The sarcastic tone in her voice was dominant.

The sound of the waves was filling their ears. The chilly air was touching their skin. It was warm enough to sit on the beach and otherwise Elvira and Daniel were stubborn enough to always be on the beach when it was colder.

"It's weird that our friends have kids now. Sometimes I forget we are not twenty anymore," Daniel suddenly mentioned after a long silence.

"Hmm, yeah," she nodded. "And why out of all the sudden?"

"Everything that is being sent in the group chat is pictures of their children and tips about children stuff," he said annoyed and grabbed a new slice out of the box.

"I know. In the chat of Hayden," she began. He nodded as confirmation. "And the rest, so much baby spam, my goodness," she said dramatically. Hayden was a part of the friend group they both shared. "Blair does that too. 'Oh, look, I found this for Madeline'. Congratulations woman, but I do not care."

Daniel laughed. "They mean it well, but it's annoying as non-parent."

"We are almost thirty." A sigh rolled over Elvira's lips.

"I almost forgot that too," he slowly said and chuckled. "We are twenty-eight, two more years to go. Don't worry about that. But what I was trying to say it that it is odd to hear 'oh, I have to pick up my kid from school' or something like that. It is just not right in my head."
