Casting the rest of the film was easy now that the two most important roles were filled. The rest of the cast was Tom Holland as Dimitri, a member of the mafia that was actually an undercover cop. Jeff Bridges is the father of John De Luca. Michelle Pfeiffer is the mother. Charlie Hunnam is Michael De Luca, brother of John De Luca, who rapes and almost kills Alice after being told by Dimitri that there was a traitor and she secretly knew about it. It was all a vindictive plan to make John kill his own brother to rot in prison. Leaving the mafia and Alice in the hands of Michael.
After a few months of fighting on the name, Focus Features decided on "The Boss". They also wanted to film in New York but since Chris wanted to finish up Defending Jacob in Boston, they agreed for only the first month to be in Boston.

My first day on set was nerve racking. The scene was outside a giant abandoned warehouse in the center of Boston. I knew every page of my script but once I was in front of the camera, I forgot every line.
I fumbled with the sleeves of the jacket I was wearing and kicked a few rocks with the obnoxious heels. The character of Alice De Luca was a heavy cigarette smoker, along with the rest of the characters. I quit cigarettes two years ago to use a vape instead so getting back into smoking was more disgusting than I anticipated. I flicked the ashes from the cigarette after I released the smoke from my lungs.

"There you are." Chris said smiling, walking up to me. I smiled back at him. His hand tapped my arm. "You ready?" I took another hit from the cigarette and shook my head. I blew the smoke above our heads.
"I don't know what I'm doing." I confessed, squinting my eyes from the bright lights around the set. I handed the cigarette to Chris. "Kill it." Chris licked his lips before bringing the cigarette to them. I watched the smoke escape his lips.
"You do know what you're doing." He whispered. "Nobody knows this character like you do. You built her on paper and now you will bring her to the big screen." I sighed in defeat, dropping my head.
"Why do you believe in me so much?" I kept my eyes to the ground. Chris flicked the cigarette to the ground behind him.
"Because you believe in me to direct it." He chuckled. I smiled at him, playing with my hair in the loose curls.
A slap on my butt startled me. I turned around to see Jake laughing.

"Your ass looks amazing in those jeans." Jake said, standing next to me and cupping my butt with his hand. I covered my face with my hand, embarrassed. Even though I have always been in really good shape, I had been working for the last few months to "tighten up" my body. The role had a few scenes where I would be showing a lot so I wanted to look good.
I admired Jake in the all black piece suit with his long hair slicked back. His thick beard combed out and a cigarette dangling from his lips.
Filming The Boss was going to take away trying to have a baby like we had planned. The last time we tried was in the shower before meeting Chris almost six months ago. I didn't tell Jake about the negative pregnancy test but I'm sure he knew since I agreed to smoking cigarettes.
"You're looking good too, babe." I messed with his tie. Jake smiled at me. I lifted my head and puckered my lips for a kiss. Jake kissed my nose and walked to his mark.
Chris gathered everyone for the scene.

"Cut!" Chris yelled from behind the camera. The makeup artist, Lauren, appeared with Chris behind her. She started on touch ups while Chris spoke. "Have you lost a pet before, Sarah?" I shrugged my shoulders and nodded my head. "Not the unfortunate and untimely passing of a pet but your pet ran away from home and you spent those hours expecting to find them but still grieving the worst outcome?"
"Oh! Yes! My first dog, Millie, ran away when I was like nine or ten so I made posters and stayed up all night crying." I giggled, shyly. Lauren giggled at me so I nudged her arm. She nudged me back and started to do touch ups on Jake. I brought my eyes back to Chris.
"I want you to channel that feeling for this scene..." I nodded my head as I listened. "...Alice knows anything John could be involved in could result in her losing him forever." The realization connected in my brain.
"It's too late for her to stop him from running away but she will put up posters to always look for him!"
"Yes!" Chris held up his fists, smiling. He called for the crew to walk off the set. I took in a few deep breaths before starting the scene again:

"Michael found the building. He has made arrangements for the owner." The actor chuckled as he spoke his lines. I rolled my eyes knowing that he had already been killed.
"It's too far from the city." Jake began his lines. "How can we work this far from connections."
"Looks like you have something to hide." I said.  Jake's eyes told me to keep quiet. The other actors chuckled and hissed at me.
"It would be smart to keep the work secluded, Boss. Off the radar." Our eyes were glued to Jake. He glanced at me, back to the actors then surveyed the building.
"Alice is right. If we hide then we have something to hide."
"You're going to allow your woman—"
"Last time I checked, I'm his wife. Your Boss' wife. If he goes down, you all go down. And I'm not about to lose him over a fucking building." I walked off camera. I bounced in place, anxiously awaiting feedback from
Chris.

"Cut! Keep that one." He said to the few people behind him. They all nodded their heads. I watched Chris approach me after instructing the other actors. He took off his hat before wrapping his arms around me.
"Amazing..simply amazing." He whispered to me. He released me from the hug and held onto my arms.
"Was it really that good?"
"You! And yes!" I covered my mouth in shock. Jake patted Chris' back.
"She's great, isn't she?" I smiled at Jake. Chris released his grasp from my arms, nodding his head. Jake wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "Come on. Let's go eat." I smiled at Chris before we walked to catering.
