Mykie and I unpacked, decorated and settled into our new place within a few days. I dropped off the house key with my lawyer, Michael, so I could tell him all about Jake's little 'my cock is bigger than yours' ego boost with Chris.
I had a few nights of crying myself to sleep. I was lucky the break from filming was extended another week but Chris wouldn't tell me why. He continually insisted I let him do the work of finding another actor but we still talked on a daily basis.

Megan and Mykie tried everything they could to mend my broken heart during the last few days of the break, like best friends do. We had sleepovers with junk food and wine, many frozen yogurt trips and movie date nights. I was desperate enough to be happy so I did my least favorite thing with them: shopping.
I was the type of girl to grab what I needed and go. Unfortunately, since the divorce officially became public, thanks to a nosey and greedy intern at Laura's law firm, my social anxiety flared even worse whenever I had to leave my bed.
The girls glammed me up, styled my hair and forced me to the mall. They demanded a smile from me every time they held up an article of clothing. At least I could enjoy the mix of 90's pop music the store had playing. I sang along to Britney Spears, pretending to look through a rack of clothing.

"Take a gander! We have spotted a wild Sarah Rose." Mykie popped up from the other side of the rack, whispering loudly in an Australian accent. "She has started fending for herself. Crikey! She is a beauty!" Megan popped up next to her. They both put on brown safari hats at the same time. I tried to hide my smile.
"Is that a smile? Could it be she's actually having fun?" Megan whispered back, also in an Australian accent. I knocked the hat from Mykie's head.
"Yes, I'm having fun but it's because of the music." I pointed to the speakers in the ceiling. I avoided their eyes and obnoxious smiles. Luckily, my phone started ringing. I brought it out of my purse to see the silly picture of me, Tom Holland and Chris all wearing matching Mickey ears at Disneyland. "Chris is FaceTiming me." I looked at the both of them nervously.
"Answer it! Answer it!" They both pried. I made sure they could see the screen but not be in it. I answered the call to see Chris' big smile.

"Hey!" I said into the phone. His sunglasses reflected the screen of his phone.
"Wow. You weren't kidding when you said they got you all dressed up!" I shifted my eyes to them then back to the phone.
"Yeah. That was the fun part." I laughed. I moved the phone to show the girls next to me. They pretended to look at the items in front of them. "They're shopping and I'm...not." I laughed again. Chris laughed and waved his hand.
"Hello ladies." They each waved and said hi to him in unison. I moved the phone back to me. The scenery of trees and buildings stopped bouncing behind his head. He called Dodger to him.
"What're you up to?"
"I brought Dodger to the dog park since the screen tests with Tom Hardy went a little longer than I excepted today."
"No way!"
"Way." He chuckled. He lifted the sunglasses from his face to reveal his bright blue eyes. "We start filming again next week."
"Oh, my god! That's amazing!" I released the tension from my shoulders. At least one thing was turning out good. He called for Dodger again. "Shit. I better get going to keep an eye on him. Have fun not shopping." I giggled and waved into the phone.
"Thanks. See you later." The call ended with his big smile on the screen. Mykie and Megan excitingly bounced with me in celebration of the news. We talked about the incredible talent Tom Hardy has while they gathered more items. We shuffled our way to the enormous changing room.

I tried on a few shirts, a dress and a really cute pair of galaxy print leggings before I tapped out. The girls continued to try on more things so I sat on a small bench next to the mirror. I sent a reply to a text from Chris with a smile growing on my face.

"He's totally in love with you." Megan said, pulling down a purple shirt over her head. My smile faded away. I shook my head and kept my eyes on the phone.
"Don't say that word." I barked at her.
"Fine. He's in like with you, asshole." She snapped back. The purple shirt hit me in the face. I dropped my jaw in shock to see them both laughing.
"You're the asshole, asshole." I threw the shirt back to Megan. "And no, he's not."
"Are you blind? Do you see the way he smiles at you?" Mykie added.
"He's a happy person." I made an effort to defend his actions.
"And you guys talk a lot." Megan said quickly. She raised an eyebrow at me as she pulled another shirt over her head.
"Thank you, Captain Obvious."
"You also talk about him a lot too." Mykie hissed. She unzipped a dress and watched it fall to the ground. Another text tone alert brought my eyes to my phone.
"No, I don't." I replied to Chris' text with a smile returning.
"Oh, really? What're you doing now?" Mykie planted her hands on her hips.
"Texting Chris. He told me about the audition and—" I stopped myself after seeing the two of them gawking at me. I locked my phone and threw it back into my purse. I picked at my black leggings.

"So..." Megan tried to salvage the conversation. "...what did you end up doing for your birthday? You didn't answer our texts or calls?"
"I went to this local pizza place with...Chris." Megan rolled her eyes but Mykie's body hopped up and down.
"Like a date!" She squealed.
"What!? No! He just wanted to cheer me up. We found out we actually have even more stuff in common."
"Like what?" They sang the words together in a mocking tone. I held up my middle finger to them and they did the same back.
"Well, you guys know we both have an unhealthy obsession for Disney as adults." They nodded heir heads. "We found out we both have a tattoo for a close friend that passed away. We also both have tattoos for our siblings. His first movie, Not Another Teen Movie, was filmed at my high school. We know every line to the movie Hook and have seen every episode of Rick and Morty more than once."
"That's kinda weird." Megan squinted her eyes.
"Right? Just weird little things like that." I returned my eyes down to my leggings. I sighed, thinking back to his laugh while we quoted Hook.

"Sarah." Mykie's voice was serious. I only lifted my eyes to her. "If you don't want to admit that he's madly in like with you then why don't you admit that you like him. You're not married anymore."
"Technically, I'm still married."
"Sarah."
"I...don't. I mean..I haven't..." I staggered on the words. "...I haven't felt this way about him the whole time. It was just how sweet he was to me during the whole divorce and it was my birthday and I was drunk and it literally smacked me in the face like a ton of bricks when I got home that night."
"Only because you've been forcing yourself to ignore it." Megan's brutal honesty made me cross my legs and arms. I pouted my bottom lip in a tantrum. I smacked my hands on my legs.
"Now you guys are going to make me think too much into it! I'm in a very vulnerable state right now!"
"I bet he makes you vulnerable." Mykie winked at me and raised an eyebrow again.
"Fuck off." I crossed my arms again. The girls laughed at my snarky comment and continued to try on more clothes.
