"What time did he say they'd be here?" Mykie asked me as she threw more dog toys into a cardboard box. I shrugged my shoulders. It had been such an exhausting two weeks, I had no energy left. Jake and I spent the first week establishing what each of us would take and of course that resulted in consistent fights. He managed to get majority of his stuff out within a few days, which gave me a week and a half to find a place to live and move everything there.
Coincidently, Mykie's lease was ending on her apartment so we found an adorable two bedroom apartment in Los Angeles.
"He said he was getting us coffee about ten minutes ago. I already want to get out of here."
"Don't blame ya." She giggled as she taped up the box. She motioned her head toward a pile of things at the bottom of the stairs. "Is that more of Jake's stuff?" I glanced at the items. I nodded my head once I looked back at her.
"He told me he'd pick them up when I left the h—hey!" I avoided the topic as Chris walked into the house.

"Hey! I'm so sorry we're late. The line was insane." He scooped me into his arms. His aggressive hug made me release a squeak.
"Get a room." Mykie barked. My feet touched the ground as we all laughed. Chris and I smiled at each other. Chris spun around just as his brother and friends started piling in.
"Sarah, Mykie. This is my brother Scott. Scott's boyfriend, Zach. Our friends: Jason, Michael and Bobby." I shook hands with each one as they were introduced. "Guys, this is Mykie. Head makeup artist and my Sarah—um.." My eyes jolted to him, along with everyone else's. His cheeks filled with color. "..this is uh.. Sarah Rose."
"Nice save, bro." Scott pat his back. "Shall we get started?" I smiled at his attempt to save the day from the awkward moment.

"That's the last box!" Scott shouted to us from the moving truck. Mykie packed up her car with more of my stuff to drive it to the new apartment. She ran back inside to hug me tightly at the bottom of the stairs. I thanked her for the help but she laughed it off before leaving to her car.
All of Chris' friends that came to help already left after I thanked them one by one. Chris, Scott and Zach were the last to leave. I texted the address to Zach so he could navigate Scott while he drove the U-Haul. I hugged Zach then hugged Scott.

"Thank you so much for everything, guys. It was so nice meeting you both!" I said as I was still being held firmly by Scott.
"Anything for you." He whispered into my ear. He released me from the hug to hold me in front of me by my shoulders. "I can see why my brother—"
"We should hit the road. We've got a lot of unloading to do!" Chris interrupted him. He started pushing Scott to the truck. I laughed at them pushing and punching each other. I pat the top of my head expecting my sunglasses to be there. I grunted at myself for leaving them inside the house.
"Guys, I'll meet you there! I forgot my sunglasses!" The three of them waved to me as I ran back inside the house.

I grunted again at the sunglasses on the stairs. I set them on my head. I moved my eyes around the empty house. I wiped the sweat from my forehead, dropping my butt to one of the stairs. I rest my face into my hands with the tears already tickling my cheeks.

"Did you find your sunglasses?" Chris' voice made me lift my head. I wiped the tears frantically as he walked into the house. "Everything okay?" I shrugged my shoulders, standing from the stairs and walking up to him.
"Yeah, this just sucks." I sighed. I looked around the house again. "I really loved this house." Chris' hand came into my view. I turned my head to see him holding his arms open. I waddled up to him laughing bashfully. "How do you always know when I need a hug?" I said into his chest. I inhaled the strong smell of cigarettes and cologne.
"Because I'm good at hugging." We both laughed before the sound of someone clearing their throat broke us apart.

"Jake? What are you doing here?" I questioned him. I kept myself close to Chris and crossed my arms. Jake took off his sunglasses, messing with papers in his hand.
"I drove by and saw your car because I need to give you these." He walked up to me and handed me the papers. I unfolded them and read them as he continued. "Laura said the divorce will be final in two months." I raised my eyebrows in shock, keeping my eyes on the papers. "Oh. So, I see that makes you happy?!" I scowled my expression.
"What are you—" I brought my eyes up to see he was glaring his eyes at Chris.
"Are you fucking my wife already?" He started to raise his voice. I sighed at his anger.
"I'm not your wife, Jacob."
"But he is fucking you!? That's great. That's just fucking great! You really move on fast, don't you!" I rolled my eyes at his anger.
"Why don't you go home, Jake?" Chris tried to defuse the situation.
"She's my wife and you're fucking her!" He yelled back.
"That doesn't give you the right to talk to her like that!" They were practically puffing up their chests like fighting animals.

"Alright, alright!" My voice bounced off the walls. I only stopped Chris with a hand on his chest. I kept my eyes on Jake. "Nobody is fucking me." I decreased the space by taking a step toward Jake. "You made that perfectly clear while we were married too." I whispered sharply. Jake shook his head at me. He didn't say another word as he left the house. "You'd think he wouldn't be such an ass." I said to the empty doorway.
"I was an ass too." Chris admitted behind me.
"You were sticking up for me." I only turned my head to smile at Chris. He smiled back. "Let's go."
He rubbed my back as we walked out of the house. He watched me lock the front door one last time.
