"And that is why we shouldn't trust Sam Wilson as our new Captain America" You rolled your eyes at the teacher's statement. Everyone had been saying that, the number of times that S.H.I.E.L.D had told the government that Sam was perfectly capable of having the mantle of Captain America was getting tiring to count. You raised your hand. "Yes, Y/N?"

"Your point's bullshit" You deadpan. "Your reason was invalid and I want to hear something other than shit come out of your mouth," You tell her. She stuttered as you stood up and walked to the front of the class. "Does anyone, want to give me a reason why Sam shouldn't be Captain America?" You ask them. Flash Thompson raised his hand and you pointed to him.

"Because he's a criminal, and he isn't as cool as Steve Rogers." He says.

"He's not a criminal-"

"You are. And yet the government still trusts you and your dad, who killed hundreds of people" Flash says. Your eyebrows raised and he smirked at you.

"Listen to me you pretentious, trust-fund asshole, I won't hesitate to shove my foot so far up your-"

"Okay, Miss Bevens, I'm gonna take Y/N outside for a minute," Peter says. He stood up from his chair and took you by the shoulders. You refused to meet Peter's eyes as he stood in front of you. "Y/N, are you okay?" He asks you.

"I'm fine, Peter." You tell him. He knew that you were lying to him, he always knew. "I'm going home, I'll see you tomorrow" You inform him.

"Wait, what about your dad? Isn't he gonna be mad at you?" Peter asks worriedly. You shook your head.

"He wants me to leave here anyway, I doubt he'll care" You turned your back and walked away from Peter. "Tell Flash to go fuck himself!"

You closed the door as quietly as you could, but luck was not in your favour today. As soon as you entered the apartment, he was standing against the doorframe, a look of disappointment on his face.

"Save the lecture, dad, I'm not particularly in the mood," You say. He sighed and walked towards you.

"I know you're not, they told me why," He says. You frowned and looked at the floor as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. "You wanna talk about it?" He asks you.

"It's not fair, dad. It's not fair for Sam, he's worked so hard for this and they're gonna take it away from him like that? And-And what about us? Whatever we did, it wasn't our fault, right? We didn't have a choice." Your tears were running down your face as you ranted to your dad. "Why are we always the bad guys?" You ask him. Bucky frowned and wrapped his arms around you.

"I know it's not fair, I know Y/N. But you're right, what happened to us all those years ago was not our fault. They can believe that we're lying, but S.H.I.E.L.D knows that we're not, and so does the rest of the team. Steve chose Sam because he knew that he could carry on the legacy of Cap better than anyone else. It's going to get better, Y/N, I promise" He says. You nodded and sniffled. "Go get changed, we're going over to Sams to see if he can perfect throwing the shield yet." He tells you. You laughed and shook your head.

"Should I take a change of clothes and my pyjamas?" You joke. Bucky rolled his eyes and fake laughed at you.

"No, you should be fine," He says. You walked into your room and got changed into the clothes that you would use for training. You grabbed your jacket and walked out into the hallway. "Ready?" He asks you. You nodded and followed him out into the car. "So, what do you want to do about school? You know my feelings about Midtown-"
