Kitten Joonie

"Joonie, where are you kitten? Time for lunch, baby!", Jin called out for his hybrid, expecting him to come down immediately.

"Papa, not yet!", Joonie whined from his bedroom located upstairs.

Jin was a bit surprised. Usually, his kitten is well behaved and obeys immediately.

"Joonie, come down now, honey! The food is getting cold. Papa made your favorite Jajangmyeon." Jin tried again, trying to entice his son.

"Joonie not hungry! Joonie wants to play!", the kitten huffed, stomping his foot.

Jin heard the mini tantrum and was taken aback. Why was his Joonie acting out? He then decided to go up and investigate. "I'm coming to get you, Joonie, and you bet we're going to talk about your behavior just now.", Jin announced, voice stern.

Joonie squeaked and scrambled to hide from his dad. By the time Jin reached upstairs, Joonie was nowhere to be seen. He sighed, patience slowly getting thin.

"Joonie, I'm going to count to five. If you don't come out til then, I'm going to cancel your playdate with Yoonie and Kookie tomorrow." The now angry man warned. Out of the corner of his eye he spied where his kitten is most probably hiding. He started counting, deep inside hoping that the hybrid will come out voluntarily. He wondered what was in their breakfast this morning that made his child so stubborn today.

"One... Two..."

Joonie is currently hiding inside his special box, in the corner of his room just beside his bed. It's actually the box that came with their new oven. His eyes gleamed with excitement once he saw the big box. He cried when he saw his papa Jin fold the box, to throw away once the garbage collector came. Jin at that time just shook his head with amusement. All his expensive toys and his favorite is a discarded box. He really is a kitten!

"I'm giving you a chance, Joonie. Once I get to five, it's no longer going to be fun for you."

Joonie stayed hidden in his box, fluffy white ears perked up listening to whatever is happening outside his sanctuary. His dad has already reached five and is now silent. He relaxed a little thinking his papa gave up and went to look for him in another room. Much to his surprise, his box was suddenly lifted up and he's now face to face with an angry Jin.

Jin lifted him up, turned him around and without any warning landed three sharp smacks on Joonie's clothed bottom.

"That's a very naughty thing to do, Kim Namjoon! When Papa calls, you come immediately, you do not hide. Do you understand me?"

Joonie nodded and immediately answered 'yes' while crying not wanting to get more swats.

Jin carried his kitten, careful not to tug at his tail, and brought him downstairs. He then guided him to a corner and told him to stay there. "Ten minutes, Namjoon. Once you hear the phone alarm you come to me and tell me why you got spanked and earned a time out."

Joonie sobbed loudly. His papa usually doesn't call him by his full name. He must be really mad! But he didn't meant to cause any trouble, he just wanted to play longer. He's not a bad boy! Is he?

By the time his ten minutes was up, Joonie's crying was reduced to sniffles. He went to Jin who was on the process of reheating their now cold lunch. He hugged his dad and apologized immediately, "I'm sorry, Papa. Joonie won't disobey you again. Joonie will come when you call. No more hiding."

Jin, no longer mad but still not happy with his boy's attitude, just motioned for the kitten to sit down and start eating. The duo ate in silence with Joonie once in a while sniffling and wiping the occasional tears escaping his eyes with the back of his hands. The hybrid is not used to getting scolded and punished. He is usually well behaved and is constantly earning praises from his papa. Jin spoils him a lot with attention, kisses, cuddles and lots of toys. Probably why he thought he could get away with throwing a tantrum.

Once done, Jin told the hybrid to go sit on their couch while he cleaned the dining table and washed the dishes. No TV and no playing with his stuffies!

Joonie obeyed and stayed quiet while waiting. However, the crying must have tired him out because by the time Jin came out of the kitchen, the poor kitten was already knocked out, snoring softly on their couch.

Jin can't help but smile fondly. He lifted his son and took him to his room. He then decided to stay with Joonie and napped beside him.

After an hour, Joonie woke up and saw his papa smiling at him while stroking his white hair and ears.

"Good afternoon, my baby. Did you have a nice nap?"

Joonie nodded weakly, still unsure if he's already forgiven and allowed to cuddle. Jin sensing the boy's hesitation hugged him tightly.

"Can you tell Papa now why you were being difficult this morning?"

"I dunno, Papa. Just wasn't hungry and not in the mood to eat.", the kitten confessed while enjoying the warm embrace.

Jin chuckled softly. "Oh, my sweet boy! Did my kitten woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? I understand, Joonie, we all have our moments. But that doesn't mean you can be disrespectful to Papa, okay? If you're not feeling good, you tell Papa and we can talk it out."

"Are you still mad at me?"

"No love, no longer mad. Papa forgives you."

"Can Yoonie and Kookie still come and play with Joonie tomorrow?"

Jin stayed quiet for awhile and thought about his threat awhile ago. He really should follow through with what he said to make sure that Joonie learned his lesson. But he also thought that it's unfair to the other two hybrids who's looking forward to tomorrows playdate. Why should they also be punished for something only his son did?

Jin kissed his baby's forehead and hugged him much tighter. "Yes, Joonie, they can still come over tomorrow. But remember, I don't want a repeat of what happened today, huh? Or else no scheduling of playdates for the next two weeks."

"Yes, Papa! I promise to be a good boy! Thank you, Papa!", Joonie confirmed, smiling widely, deep dimples appearing on both cheeks.

Jin sighed. He hates punishing his kitten. He really does. But he knows it's his responsibility as Joonie's father to discipline the boy whenever needed. He's so glad that his sweet boy is behaved most of the time and that this kind of episode are few and far in between.

Joonie looked up at his papa and pecked his cheek. "I love you, Papa!"

Jin returned the kiss.

"I love you too, my good boy. To the moon and back!"
