~Chapter 2~

On Thursday morning I woke up to the same alarm since I was five, which was nine years ago. I turned it off and the sound stopped, then a new sound started to ring. It was the home phone. I have one on my night stand, because Dad said I can have one for when Katie and Marie call. They didn't answer, so it went to voicemail.

"Mrs. and Mr. Finnegan, this is your boss-" then it got cut off, and the little screen on the phone said 'line in use'. They must have answered when they realized it was some one important. I yawned and thought I'm so glad school's almost over then got dressed for the day.

By the time I came downstairs my mom was still on the phone with her boss. Dad silently ran over to put a plate in my heads and shooed me back to my room. I went back to the window sill in my room and got out Wattpad. It's kinda like a daily routine. I finished Forced Royal, so I found a new book called 'Not Exactly Romeo And Juliet' a few days ago and now I'm half way through it. It's really good, and I like the author. She has all good books, and next I plan to read her book called 'The Perfect Duet', which I already put in my library.

I only stopped to get to the bus. Mom was still on the phone so I blew silent kisses and waved.

Once I was on the bus, I sat in my seat, but Marie was missing. Katie was looking down at a book, and a stray strand of blonde hair dangled into the page. She tucked it away neatly behind her glasses and pushed those up as well. She looked up at me and smiled when I sat down.

"One minute," she muttered and finished her page. She stuck in a blue felt bookmark and put the entire thing into her backpack. Sensing she was done, I asked her the following:

"Where's Marie?"

"Out sick," Katie answered. "She's got some thing. We're taking her to the doctor tonight."

"Oh," I said sympathetically and sat back in the seat.

In my home room class before school I saw that quite a few kids were missing, but that's normal, because most kids don't go to school on the last few days. Katie and Marie always stay though. They have awards for never missing school that the teachers hand out at the end of every year. We mainly just stayed in our home room for the whole day, watching movies that other students brought. Sadly, Katie isn't in my home room, so I can't spend any time with her. Marie was, but she's out sick.

The last hour of the day my teacher announced as 'Dance Day for a hour'. She turned on some funky music and watched us all dance. Well, some of us. The boys were all over the room, shaking around like wet dogs. The girls mostly just stood with their arms crossed, not wanting to embarrass themselves. Our teach we was covering her mouth with one hand and she shook a little. I think I heard her laugh too. She's just laughing at us when it was her idea in the first place. I'll have to ask Katie if her teacher made them do this too if I remember on the bus.

On the bus, I did ask her. Katie said that she didn't have to do anything but play electronics and watch movies. Then it was almost my stop.

"Hey, I'll see you tomorrow. And make sure Marie's here for the last day, I want to be able to say bye until our sleepover!"

"Ok," Katie called out as I left the bus. On Saturday our moms got together and scheduled a sleepover the week after school ended. So really, school being over isn't goodbye. It's like a temporary goodbye. I like that about it.
