Autumn's POV

"I want to see the Greenie!" I complained, pulling on Newt's sleeve. He stopped eating, only to roll his eyes at me. He shoved another mouthful of food into his mouth and finally looked at me, holding my arm.

"Well then go bloody find him, the shanks with Chuck." He sounded out each word slowly, like I didn't speak my own language. It was my turn to roll my eyes at him. I breathed out a fast little puff of breath from my nose in annoyance but pulled him into a quick hug.

        "I'll be back."

"Don't torment the little bugger!" Newt called after me, but I was already sprinting away; to where I know Chuck sleeps. That's the only thing that sucks about being a Runner; you never get to see the Greenie's...and well maybe the risk of getting lost and dying horribly but that's besides the point. I saw a very angry Gally pass me on my way over. I skidded to stop in front of him.

"Whoa, what's up with you?" I spoke half teasingly and half actual concern. He glared at me, eyebrows scrunched together in a menacing way.

"Every since you shucking decided to teach Chuck how to prank he's been an intolerable slinthead!" I smiled. Woo yeah! Go Chuckie! Represent team...positivity! Oh even my thoughts sound stupid...really glad I didn't say that last part aloud. If possible Gally glared even more at me before stalking away. Yes, I did have to refrain myself from sticking a foot out in front of him.

The Door's had closed, making the whole Glade seem kind of like a safe haven. Well at least to me. The golden-reds from the setting sun gave everything a sort of magical haze. I couldn't help but be in a good mood as I approached Chuck's sleeping area. I quickly scanned over the bodies with my eyes until I spotted Chuck's head of curly brown hair. I smiled to myself as I wound my way between the cluster of almost sleeping Gladers.

"Chuckie!" I yelled to him. He spun his head around, hair flying away from his face. His cheeks had gone red with embarrassment. Well embarrassing people is one of my many useless and slightly irritating talents... I smiled a big toothy grin at Chuck before plopping down next to him and the Newbie.

"Hey Greenie!" The look on the boys face was priceless. It was mixture of shock, alarm, nervousness and...recognition? His brown eyes widened to the point when I thought they would physically pop out of his head, I half expected them to make that little popping noise. His brown hair framed his face nicely, I actually think he wouldn't have been that bad looking...if it weren't for his expression.

        "You're a —"

"Girl. I know, it's a magical thing isn't it?" I replied, throwing all the sarcasm into my voice as I could. He narrowed his eyes at me, almost as if he remembered something. Odd...

"But I thought there wasn't supposed to be any girls here." He questioned. Chuck layed back, relaxed. He was obviously happy that he didn't have to answer any more questions.

"What?!" I asked in mock astonishment, "Well who told you that?" Thomas' eyes darted to his hands and stayed there.

"Uh...no one I guess. It's just that I've only seen boys here, well except for you."

"Well you're right about that!" I said clapping him on the back. At first he looked alarmed, but calmed back down. Well he was doing better than Chuck did on his first day here... "I am the only girl here. You wanna know why Greenie?" I wiggled my eyebrows at him and the ghost of a smile appeared on his face. He nodded. "It's because I was soooo fabulous at whatever it was I was doing before I came to this shuck Maze that I thought I needed a challenge! So I decided to come here..." Thomas raised an eyebrow at me as if saying 'really...'.

"Why'd you say 'you' decided to come here....didn't you come in the Box?" His nervousness had returned. Shuck, I never thought about leaving that out...

"Um..." Chuck kicked me in the back lightly as if signalling me to tell the truth, "Not exactly...but that! Is a story for another day!" I got to my feet and began walking away. I heard Chuck and Thomas talking in the background.

        "Who was that?" Thomas's voice.

        "That was Autumn."
