A/N - What the heck, why do all you guys live in such cool places...go away, gosh darn it *sighs frustratedly*
Autumn's POV
"Pleaseeeeee!" I yelled as loud as I could into MInho's ear, whilst grabbing his arm.
"Shuck, Autumn. Get off." He said shoving his hand into my face and proceeding to push me away. I stood back from him and hung my arms at my sides, letting out a dramatic sigh.
"All I wanted was to accompany you on your mission to retrieve the dead Griever," I flung my arms out in a questioning gesture, "Is that too much to ask?" I fell to the ground, milking my acting for all it was worth. I was currently laying with my back to the ground and the back of my hand against my forehead. "My one true dream!" I looked up to see Minho rolling his eyes at me. He didn't even bother to remark, how dare he!
I sighed once more before sitting up, I noticed something had caught Minho's eye and I turned to see that it was none other than Newt. He was limping over to us with a concerned expression on his face. The two boys stood over me (seeing as I was sat on the ground), looking down like they were doctors and I was a patient about to be operated on.
"What's wrong?" Newt asked and kicked me lightly. I smiled and opened my mouth, about to get back into character before I was rudely interrupted by Minho.
"Nothing she's just complaining because I said she couldn't come with us to get the shucking Griever." He had his arms crossed over each other, making his muscles bulge. I rolled my eyes, it seemed that his show-off-iness had become second nature by now. Newt's eyes locked onto mine and he raised an eyebrow at me. His blonde hair fell away from his face slightly as he leaned forwards.
"Please can I go?" I asked, holding my hands out to Newt. He took them and pulled me to my feet.
"Nope."
"Why not?"
"Because it's not bloody safe, that's why."
"MInho and Alby get to go!"
"So?"
"So, are you claiming that I can't handle myself because if you haven't noticed I cannnnn!" I leaned back, so my weight was on my left foot, and crossed my arms in a stubborn sort of fashion. I watched as the corners of Newt's mouth turned up into a smirk.
"No...I'm claiming you handle yourself too well and would probably let yourself get eaten so the other two shanks could get away." I uncrossed my arms and squeezed my fists.
"I hate you..." Newt had an amused expression written all over his face and he raised an eyebrow at me.
"Why's that?"
"Because you're shucking right." I looked down at the ground not wanting to see his satisfied expression.
"I hate you too." He said jokingly, pulling me into a tight hug. The morning air was cool and he was warm and protecting. (Not that I needed protecting though... *scoffs*)
"You know I can organize for you two to get a shucking room."

As soon as I ran through the door at the usual time I knew something was wrong. One; I was immediately pulled into a hug by Newt and two; no one teased us about it...
"What's wrong?" I asked, looking up into his eyes. If possible I wasn't even seeing the colour, only reading the emotions; they were filled with such a deep sadness I felt my heart breaking just a little every time I looked at them. His face read worry, and his hair lay flat against his head, like even that was sad.
"They didn't come back..." The words were nothing more than a whisper, meant only for my ears and none others. I felt my heart jump and not the good kind, followed by a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. My eyes were glazed open as I pulled Newt closer and let the words sink in. They weren't back... they were in the Maze. Minho is the best Runner...they weren't back...
Neither of us said anything, Newt didn't tell me to go eat or to draw the maps. I didn't ask what happened. We just stood — hand in hand, staring out at the now menacing Maze before us. I could feel the air cooling and I knew it wouldn't be long before the Doors closed. Minho...he's one of my best friends...there is no way...and Alby, Alby rooted for me, made me a Runner... I squeezed my eyes shut, hoping that that would prevent the memories from flooding back. The memories of Minho teasing me, or the first time I arrived. Stop it! Stop, just stop! I screamed throughout my head. I didn't want to think about any of this anymore. Not about the Banishment, or the girl or the note or the Grievers or my missing friends. I didn't want any of it.
"Where are they?" I felt Newt say beside me, his voice was strained. I opened my eyes and turned to see that Chuck and Thomas had joined us.
"Why don't we send out a search party?" I almost laughed out loud at how ridiculous a suggestion that was. Although there was always that tiny, reckless part of me that screamed to do exactly that.
"Bloody he—" I squeezed Newt's hand, "We can't. Okay? Don't say it again. One hundred percent against the rules. Especially with the buggin' Doors about to close." There was a small silence before Thomas continued.
"But why? Won't the Griever's get them if they stay out there? Shouldn't we do something?" I felt Newt's hand slip out of mine and he yelled at Thomas. I would've hated to be on the other end of that... All the sadness I was feeling was probably multiplied by ten for Newt. He had known them for years where as I, only months. I understood how hard this must be for him...
"The Door's close in two minutes." Newt stated after the tiny argument. It honestly surprised me that I had managed to stay quiet through the whole thing... Newt took my hand in his and held it to his chest. I did nothing, just started out into the looming emptiness of the Maze. A loud boom sounded from all directions...the Door's were closing. We stood close to the walls, close enough to see the rocks it spit out and the sparks flying. Close enough to see the flicker of movement from down the long path.
I felt my heart speed up. Did I dare hope it was them? I was battling with myself, breathing heavy and then, through the ruckus of the closing Door's I heard Minho yell.
"They got him!" Everything was suddenly clear, my eyes widened. I heard Thomas yell to Newt in the background, heard somewhere in the back of my mind Newt yelling something. With one breath I had made my decision, unfortunately I was very predictable. I started to move forwards but I already had two pairs of arms holding me back, Chuck and Gally.
"Shuck it! Guys get off! I can help them!" I struggled against their holds. I might have been strong, but not strong enough. I watched in horror as Minho dragged Alby through the darkness. They're so close! Come on Minho! I fought against the arms holding me, now joined by Newt. And then something unexpected.
"Don't do it, Tommy! Don't you bloody do it!" I whipped my head around and watched as Thomas, the Greenie stepped out into the Maze. I stopped struggling and felt the arms release me, I stood in awe at the sight of the closed Doors.
