Autumn's POV

Let me tell you, waking up in extreme turmoil, covered in red welts that looked like fractals and being almost shaken to death by your dead friend was not exactly how I planned for my morning to go.

My eyes shot open and I found myself face to face with none other than Minho himself. He was covered in scrapes and bruises, and exhaustion had worn lines into his face but it was Minho...and he was very much alive. And he was also very much going to shake me to certain death if I didn't intervene soon. I reached an arm up to push him off of me, surprised at how much it ached. What happened...

"Autumn?" There was skepticism in his voice. I opened my mouth to respond but closed it when I realized where I was. I was lying in the middle of the Maze, the walls on either sides stretched up high into the air and the sun made spots dance in my vision. I squeezed my eyes shut and propped myself into a sitting position. I went to rub my eyes but came to an abrupt halt. There were patterns on the backs of my hands... red welts that branched out along my skin like tree branches.

"Are you okay?" A different voice asked me, it was Thomas. What had happened? Minho and Alby never made it out of the Maze. Thomas followed them. They are supposed to be dead. Why am I in the Maze? How did I get in the Maze? What the shuck are these patterns and why is Minho looking at me like I just pooped on a toddler?!

"I'm fine," I brushed off Thomas' question, "What's going on?" I asked more to Minho than to Thomas. I couldn't help but get a feeling of dejavu it was almost like when I had woken up in the Maze for the first time.

"I could ask you the same thing," MInho responded, leaning backwards and crossing his arms. He often did that when he felt nervous or unsure...made his arm muscles stick out...he was like one of those lizards that puffs out its neck when it feels threatened. I nearly laughed at myself but decided this wasn't really the time for joking around.

"Come on, we'll explain on the way back. We still gotta get Alby." Thomas spoke to me, offering me his hand. I took it and he pulled me to my feet.

"Uh...thanks," I noticed his eyes went straight for the patterns. Every muscle in my body ached. Every single, tiny movement sent pain shooting throughout my body. What on earth did I even do?  Luckily for me whatever Thomas and MInho did seemed to be causing them as much pain as I was in. Which meant the walk back to the Glade was an extraordinarily slow process...but it also gave them plenty of time to tell me what happened.

Minho and Thomas took turns explaining how their night went and how Thomas came up with this 'wait-and-dive-thingy' and how that then gave Minho the brilliant idea to make them fall off the Cliff and how the entire ordeal was very traumatic and how brilliant Thomas was in all the situations... Do I dare think Minho has a crush?

We stood at the end of the corridor leading to the Maze. We hadn't gotten Alby off the wall, but I doubted any of us had the strength to even run much less scale a wall, and carry a human being down it and back to the Glade. We decided we would get some of the other Runner's to do it. When we were almost back thoughts began to run rampant in my mind. I had no idea what the reaction would be, one because  no one has any clue how I got in the Maze in the first place and two because no one survives a night in the Maze...except these two shanks.

"Shall we?" I asked, attempting to be cheerful.

"We shall," Thomas responded, glancing over at Minho to see his response. He just stared at us, gave his best fake smile and began walking into the Glade. I took that as a que and began to follow suit. We were only metres inside of the Door when I heard a familiar voice.

"What happened?" Newt stared almost angrily at Thomas and Minho, then he turned to me, "How in the bloody —"

"We've got to save Alby." Thomas interrupted him. I let out a breath of relief. Although I wasn't one hundred percent sure why I was holding it in the first place; I don't even remember what I did. So technically I can't be held accountable...yeah that'll work... I shook the stupid thought out of my head and looked back at Newt, all the colour had drained from his face.

"What do you mean? He's alive?" I saw a flicker of hope behind Newt's eyes. This was his best friend we were talking about. Thomas better be shucking right because if anyone breaks that boys heart one more time I might punch a Griever.

"Just come here," Thomas moved to the right, back into the Maze a bit to where Alby was hanging in the vines.

"Is he...alive?" I turned away, I didn't want to look at Newt's face anymore. He seemed so sad and hopeful and utterly destroyed, it broke something inside me. I never want to see him like that again. All I want is for him to be happy and for his friends to not die, that'd be great.

"I don't know. Was when I left him up there." I heard the shock in Newt's voice and then he ordered us to go inside and be checked by the Med-jacks. I wanted to stay and make sure Alby was okay...well alive at least. But I felt myself being dragged away by Minho.

        "But—"

"No, we actually need to figure out what happened to you."

A/N - Sorry it's taking me so long to explain this I just really want you guys to understand so...yeah :/
