I stare at the body in front of me, my eyes glued to the most confusing woman I have ever encountered. There she is, finally, at ease.
"Goodbye, Unnie," I say in a whisper before I turn away. I don't look back, I walk through the crowd of soldiers, royals, traitors and loyal subjects with my head held high and my spirits beaten to the ground.
At the end of the crowd waits Wang Yo, he stands alone, afar, leaned against a tree with a distant look in his eyes. I smile softly as I leave her cold body and walk towards his warmth. he looks up at me, as if in slow motion, and returns the smile.
"Are you alright?" He asks in a happier tone, as if he knows I'm getting better, I nod happily and he smiles proudly before he pulls me into his arms. I turn towards the body and he sighs as we both watch from afar.
"Its weird, I feel like she died too soon," I say with a sigh, "At the same time, I feel as if she would've been relieved, to see herself finally lay at rest,"
"She could be here," Yo says as he crunches his mouth as if to think, "Maybe that bird?" He asks as he looks up, I follow his eyes to see a bird sitting in a tree looking down.
"O, hi...Unnie," I say sweetly as I look up at it. Wang Yo chuckles before he lays a kiss on my cheek, in return I hold onto his arm tighter.
"We'll send the body to get washed," Seondeok says as she walks over towards us, "We'll bury it beside our Mothers,"
"That sounds good," I say approving, "And how are you?" seondeok does a double take at my face before replying, "I don't know, I don't think I'll ever know with this one,"
"No one asked but I'm fine," JinYi says says casually, "Thanks for checking up on the killer,"
"You surprised me," Seondeok says as she looks at JinYi, "You probably surprised her too," She says as she looks back at the somewhat peaceful scene in the forest. JinYi lets out a small smile.
"I bet I did," she says, "It was for her own good," Was it?
"Let's get going then," Yo says as if sensing my discomfort with JinYi's last comment, "The chapter doesn't end here,"
"We'll be off then," I say as I leave Yo's embrace to hold onto his hand instead, My sisters bow as Yo and I leave them behind in the forest.
"It's beautiful," Wang Yo says as we walk through the flower field, "I didn't think they'd bloom yet,"
My mind begins to drift, I wonder if this weird sense of peace is toxic. Why isn't Yo bothered? Why am I so relieved? Why is JinYi laughing and why is Seondeok numb? Are we really at ease or have we become numb.
"Seol?"
"Huh?"
"Are you sure you're alright?"
"Mmm,"
"We-"
"Lets kill the king," I say as I stop in my tracks, Yo stops too and turns to face me fully.
"Empre-"
"Today,"
"Are you sure?"
"I've never been more sure of anything," I say as I look up at him with determined eyes, he seems to like my answer as he smirks before speaking.
"Upon your order, your highness,"
I can't help but laugh at this psychopath's words,
"Really? You're joking at a time like this?" I ask, he just continues to stare with that amused smirk. With eyes full of love, I look up at my possibly insane lover as I give the gruesome order, "Wang Yo, I order you to kill your father,"
(authors note- I love this slightly psychopathic couple sm)
