Hope

How many screams does it take
For someone to finally come for help?
In solitude of the night
Her room turned into
A battlefield.
Every night was a silent war
She fought until her mind gave up.
Night after night demons torture her soul.
Possessing her body
They carved her alive.
So how long does it take
To finally see
A soul being tormented
And life slipping away from her eyes?
Do you pause to wonder
If her heart is at ease?
Do you try to stop
When they mock the darkness
Under her eyes
And make sure she reaches
Home safe that evening?
Maybe it isn't so hard;
It doesn't have to be hard
To share a little hope
In this cruel world
With a distressed soul.

Repeating the line -
How many screams does it take
For someone to finally come for help?
Why is it so hard for us to help a person that you know is hurting? You see the signs and yet you are seen to ignore them waiting for them to ask for help. Sometimes you do not have to know the reason for the pain to help.
With mental illness, it is difficult to know what the symptoms/signs relate to but if you see a person rather behaving unusual, getting either quieter or louder or moody, pick them as basic signs. Do not dismiss them as a phase.
