Sunday morning saw no rest for the wicked when my alarm went off at seven thirty.

I'm working today and this week it's my turn to open up the shop which required me to be there at nine for a nine thirty opening.

Shuffling out of bed, I grabbed my phone and made my way into the kitchen and switched on the industrial coffee machine that sat among the other state of the art appliances in my kitchen. My uncle had decided that if he couldn't get me the apartment he wanted to then he'd at least furnish the place for me. Needless to say, he did not go basic.

When I had brewed a good cup of coffee, I grabbed a bowl from the crockery cupboard and filled it with cornflakes before adding some cut up bananas and milk and then taking my breakfast into the living room to watch an episode of my latest obsession, The Good Place.

Hearing my phone buzz, I picked it up and saw that I had a message from my uncle. Going into the chat, I couldn't help but grin. It was a picture of my two little cousins, Darcy and Chrissy, and by the looks of things, they were operating my uncle's mobile device on their own accord. As if on cue, my phone began buzzing with an incoming video call and upon answering it, Darcy and Chrissy's faces filled my iPhone screen.

"Madi!" They squealed with the cutest grins which made me grin back.

"Hey, pretty girls," I greeted them. "Did you two hijack your dad's phone?"

They both giggled in response before I heard my aunt's voice. She playfully chided her little girls before taking the phone from them.

"Hey, Madi baby," She greeted me with a smile.

"Morning," I smiled back.

"Sorry about the girls," She chuckled. "They've just discovered how to send selfies and make video calls."

"It's all good," I giggled. "Its been a while since I've seen their adorable faces."

"It's good they called you though," She said, "Rob's been meaning to call you."

"Celinė?! Have you seen my phone?" I heard my uncle call in the background.

"I'll leave you two to it," Aunt Celinė said to me. "I'll see you soon, Madi. Love you, sweetheart."

My heart warmed. "Love you too," I said to her before she handed the phone to my uncle.

"Hey, Mads," He smiled at me. "Sorry about the twins. They've finally jumped on the technology train and everybody is at their mercy."

"That's okay," I told him.

"You been doing okay?" He asked me.

"Yeah, I've been fine thanks," I said. "And you?"

"Yeah, I've been good," He said. "Shall we meet for coffee sometime this week? Are you free on Tuesday by any chance?"

"Yeah, I am," I nodded. "My classes only start at twelve."

"Great. We'll make a plan for then," He said.

"Sounds great."

After talking for a little while and then having a bit of a gibberish conversation with my baby cousins, the call ended.

I then proceeded to wash the dishes I had used this morning before quickly showering and then getting dressed into a pair of leggings and the official Bookworm uniform shirt as well as a pair of nude ballet flats. I pulled my long wavy hair into a neat bun before putting on some foundation, concealer, bronzer and some highlighter (because no matter the day, a girls always gotta glow) before making sure I had everything that I needed in my bag.
