It was a rare occurrence to see Black without Potter or the other way around, but it wasn't completely unheard of. Usually, the pair was glued together, followed by one of Gryffindor's prefects Remus Lupin and a scrawny boy called Peter Pettigrew.

Today was one of those rare moments where Black was roaming the corridors of Hogwarts alone and I had been so deep in thought, I hadn't seen him coming and walked straight into him.

Before I could embarrass myself even more by falling and dropping my bag, Black's hands had shot out and grabbed me, holding me steady. My previous thoughts now gone, I was left staring at the boy for a minute until I realised what was going on.

"I'm sorry, Black. Thanks for catching me. I should really get going." I smiled at him and started to make my way past him when I realised he hadn't let go of me yet.

"Where are you going, Taylor? The common room's the other way around and it's nearly curfew." Black frowned and my eyes searched his face.

"I was just going for a walk." I smiled again, but Black didn't buy my lies.

"Have you been crying?" My eyes snapped up to meet his in response and that gave me away. Black's features softened and he moved his hand from my arm to my own hand and pulled me with him.

"I'm not going to ask what happened, knowing you, you'll just avoid the question. You shouldn't be out by yourself when you're feeling like crap, Taylor." Black scolded me and I sighed, this was exactly the situation I'd been hoping to avoid.

I frowned when Black lead me through corridors I hadn't seen before and we ended up at the portrait of the Fat Lady faster than ever before. She glared at us for making it back just in time, but let us in without a hassle once we said the password.

"There you are, padfoot! We've been looking for you!" Potter grinned, sitting in a corner with Lupin and Pettigrew, bent over a piece of parchment.

"I can see that." Black chuckled and I tried to get away from him, but he wouldn't let go of my hand. Potter seemed to be thinking around the same lines of confusion when he noticed my hand in Black's.

"Right. Taylor's joining us tonight." Black announced, catching Potter's eyes and the other three marauders shared a look before Potter shrugged.

"The more the merrier."

"But can we all fit-" Pettigrew argued.

"Of course we'll fit, Peter, or do you want to stay behind?" Black questioned the scrawny boy, who quickly shook his head.

"Give Evans a minute to clear out." Potter nodded his head towards another Gryffindor prefects, Lily Evans, the girl who he was, not so secretly, in love with. And sure enough, Lily went up to bed not much later, the common room now clear except for the marauders and me. Merlin, how'd I get myself into this.

"Are you bringing all those?" Potter raised his eyebrows at me, gesturing towards my books and I slowly put my bag aside.

"Actually, erm, where are we going exactly?" I finally spoke up and Black and Potter shared a look before turning towards me, wide grins on their faces.

"You'll see." Black winked and I turned to Lupin for help, but he just shook his head, an amused smile playing on his lips.

Next thing I knew, Potter pulled an invisibility cloak from his bag and I eyed it curiously.

"We haven't got all night, Taylor, come on." Potter chuckled and Black pulled me in front of him. In one swift move, the invisibility cloak was thrown over the five of us and I was extremely aware of the proximity between my body and Black's.
