I struggled with articulating my thoughts and settled in this. Of course, after I did this and made the posts for my Instagram I wrote some more and think those ones may be better 🙄. You can find these other poems in my book titled Chance (Poetry Collection).
Star Child
I was born of fire and heat
squeezed together from intense flame
then thrown across the universe
to where I am today
On my journey, I met
so many friends like me
some hyper and hotheaded
and others just serene
There have been many moments
of what you may call bliss
feeling so complete
but they've all left without a kiss
I've been passed around so much
in my long and endless life
carried all over by everyone
in my millennia of strife
Now I think I've found my place
floating above a sleeping world
full of friends and strangers alike
where life has unfurled
Connected
Carbon befriends
Hydrogen to share
Electrons that
Move chaotically
In a spacious
Cloud of energy, jumping
Around the small nuclei with
Little protons and neutrons
Readily found throughout
Every living thing
All hinting at our
Common ancestor
That all life
Is connected, whether big
Or small
Now and forever in this world
