Birthdays don't really mean so much to me, except that it is the only day I can receive gifts without feeling uncomfortable or odd. That's because I've never been fond of accepting gifts on a normal day without a reason. Atleast on my birthday I have that reason to receive stuff. I may sound materialistic but a gift solely makes birthdays special.

It was near the end of the summer when I, 5 year old Nathalia, found myself in the backseat of the car on the way home beating my brain about the friend that should be with me. It was my birthday and mom told me to invite my friends for a party at our house. And that's where the problem came from. I don't have friends. Well, maybe I have, but they're my brothers' and cousin's friends. Plus this girl whom my mom said my first girl friend, except I wasn't certain if she was. I didn't like her, napakamaldita niya at lagi kaming nag-aaway. That's why I was on a big trouble.

Ever since then, I've learned to be obedient with my parents' words albeit they don't pressure me. Nakasanayan ko na talagang sundin sila and that time wasn't an exception. I didn't want to disappoint them- not at once for acting antagonistic to every person in school resulting for none to befriend me first. They're all so childish and I didn't like them. Yes, it's natural for 5 year-olds but I've had enough childishness from six fools who I grew up with. I can't bear to add more.

I felt so down dahil sa mga iniisip ko. Sinong ihaharap ko sa parents ko? Anong sasabihin ko kay mommy? Magsosorry ba ako kasi wala akong kaibigan because I was never nice to my classmates & schoolmates?

Who was he? I don't know. And why was he standing outside our house? Mukhang tinatawag niya iyong isang bata.

Usually, I wouldn't even budge at my seat and let the driver handle the situation, but I was also curious at that moment and something vague was pushing me to open the door of the car and hop off. It seemed like I found a solution to my problem.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Good guy.
