So, Now What? (Steven Universe) (Lapidot)

Homeworld Blues

Peridot POV
I got up from against the tree, I've been having some thoughts about doing what I'm about to, but not this extreme until now. I remembered at the center of this forest there was remains of some pieces that broke off of Yellow Diamond ship from when she first invaded. It was some of the highest grade homeworld tech that could've fell down, even if it was damaged I could easily repair it. Fortunately it was pretty much the only thing I was good for nowadays, but my knowledge on homeworld could be found in any Peridot! Probably many more gems other then just Peridots! I continued walking through the forest until I reached the clearing, there I could clearly see the remains of the ship. There were some vines and plants growing on them but I removed them with quite ease

With that I was able to organize and separate the parts I would need, thankfully building a spaceship isn't that hard, well for me. I realized I'd need some of my tools that I kept hidden in my room, I wouldn't be able to carry all of this back to my house. However my magnetic powers allowed me to levitate all of the pieces, I had to say that was another thing I seemed to be quite good at. However I never seemed to be able to help the Crystal Gems with them. Once I got near Little Homeworld I could see Lapis sitting near the tower, she probably was looking out for me at the highest point, either that or sitting there with no care in her mind. Either way that clod would not be able to find me, I sneaked around the sides of the buildings with the parts floating behind me, eventually I was able to get to my house and I opened the door walking in, moving the parts to the floor I let out a small sigh of relief

" So, what are you doing here Peridot? You know building a ship and getting off this planet won't fix your problems " I heard from an unknown voice, out of reflex I used my magnetic powers to lift up a sharp spear of iron I kept in my room just in case any gems in here were traitors then my vision focused on the person and I saw that it was Garnet, that would explain how she knew what I wanted to do. I sighed putting the spear down and saying " Well Garnet, I'm sure you know I need my tools to build a ship, and actually I'm sure it'll fix everything. If I'm not useful here I can be useful there, where I'm from and where I belong " Garnet then went to lean up against the bed and pulled the tool case out from under it saying " You know how it'll affect the people who care about you, I don't have to tell you that. What about Lapis? She's been the most worried about you, she even told all of us about what's been going on with you." I wished Garnet wouldn't of mentioned her, Garnet didn't see how Lapis treated me and what she told me earlier today, so I got a bit angry and kicked a small piece of the ship saying " LAPIS? You didn't see what she did earlier today! She berated me for being late for my class when if she was even in the company of those clods for 5 SECONDS, she'd want to leave too!" Garnet was as composed as ever as she put my tool case onto my bed next to her so she could keep an eye on it as she said " Peridot, I know a large part of the success you want from your students is hindered by them not caring, but you don't abandon them, you talk and try to see why they aren't caring. Steven never abandoned you when you were still evil, he talked to you and eventually you told off Yellow and joined us. If he didn't do that, I'm sure you wouldn't be here with us, and many other events would've turned out for the worse. " I could never deny the wisdom Garnet spoke but they all were still blaming me for not listening to them! She has future vision she could've worded that anyway differently to understand what I've been dealing with! " OH HERE WE GO, You just like Lapis are still blaming me when the both of you don't know what I've been going through other then teaching! In fact all of the crystal gems rarely visit me besides to ask for something to be fixed! I used to see Lapis everyday but now I barely get to have a conversation with her whenever I walk past her! So how about you take your wisdom and try to figure out why I'm so exactly done with not just my students!" Once Garnet heard that I could see she had a slight frown, maybe she was feeling bad for they were treating me? Not that I'd care, apologies only go so far. " Peridot I-I didn't know, if you wanted to have company you could've always visited the beach house, I admit I didn't check on you much because I thought you'd be fine. I take the blame but please don't be so harsh to Lapis, she just cares so very much for these gems. She's been putting all of her will to helping them please understand why she couldn't be with you because of it. " I slowly nodded my head as tears would fall down my face, and onto the ground. I shouldn't of gotten mad at Lapis but she had pushed too many of my buttons that day, but every other gem in Little Homeworld was so useful.

except for me... My gem would probably be more useful as a centerpiece for a decoration than having it be the center of my physical form, Garnet without hesitation immediately rushed over putting her arms around me picking me up, she had visible tears going down her eyes, she opened the door and walked us outside closing it behind her, then putting me down she took off her visor looking me dead in the eyes with tears still going down both of our faces now saying " You are not useless Peridot! You don't need reduce yourself to just your gem! You've helped us so much yet you think only because you weren't on the front lines means you weren't helping. Without you the cluster would've made us as good as space dust! I-I can't trust you to be by yourself. " When she said that I was very confused but I refused to accept her words, Steven was the one connected to the cluster all I did was bring him closer to it! However She must've had this reaction because of something that happened in the future, was I about to poof myself? I knew I was growing a strong urge to end this conversation, but what length would I be brought to, to where I'd find the solution to be poofing myself. However before I could respond Garnet saw Pearl walking by and she made a hand gesture to get her over here. She rushed over seeing the state Garnet was in, she was about to unleash a barrage of panicky questions but Garnet first whispered to her saying " Pearl, I need you to keep an eye on Peridot for a bit, don't let her near any metal. I need to talk to Lapis for a bit but you might need to take over some of her art classes for a bit, that okay?" Pearl took in a lot or information at all but then gave a nod saying " W-well of course! I'm a bit of an Artist but why do I need to watch Peridot-Garnet?!" Pearl barely got to finish her question before Garnet immediately went up the tower Lapis was staying at, Pearl and I looked in confusion she then turned her glance to me saying " I don't know what Garnet is up to, but Peridot you have been late to your classes, maybe she's doing something about that?" I really hoped Garner would comeback soon, I did not need to hear Pearls onslaught of a speech about what I've been doing is wrong and inconsiderate as well. However before she could really say something Garnet came back with Lapis at her side, Lapis seemed more annoyed then anything. Garnet must've had to do a lot of convincing with whatever she wanted to tell her.

Once Garnet was near us she had her usual composure back, then she began by saying " Well Peridot, due to what I saw in my future vision you'll have Lapis stay with you an a bigger house in Little Homeworld for two gems. Pearl and I will be taking over the classes taught by you to. We've also agreed that you need to see someone for therapy Peridot, we know someone in beach city unless you'd rather have one of us to talk to? " I was perplexed by this, it was a comment fact that I was useless besides for repairs and teaching, which I nowadays was also extremely bad at. However I didn't want to lay all of my feelings onto a random person! Not that I knew how to explain them. " I don't need mental help, I can very well deal with this myself, I also don't know why of all people you chose her, the very same gem who slapped me this morning " Lapis was about to retort but Garnet held out her hand in front of her signaling to not, I knew it, Lapis just by her body language showed that she didn't agree with this in the least. Garnet then continued saying " Peridot if you don't want a therapist then you'll have to talk to Lapis about it, no exceptions. Pearl and I will grab you two your keys, but Peridot, I really hope you will talk to her " She then walked off with Pearl as my glance went to Lapis, I didn't want to speak much with her at all, she must still think I'm a cell centered gem who abandons students! However Lapis would make the first move saying " Out of all the gems, why are you the one to have Homeworld Blues? You always convinced me to stay here and that this was my home, so why are you leaving it now?"
