Something Is Clearly Wrong

No one's POV

Lapis could not sleep the night after Garnet, Pearl, and Bismuth left. She tried to do several artistic activities to try and calm down but all of them yielded little to no success. During all of them she made sure to have Peridot's gem right next to her on biggest and softest pillow she had. However, just about when the sun was rising she received a call from Pearl. She answered it immediately not giving any time for Pear to speak as she said

" Did you guys get a hold of Steven? O-or something to help at least?" Lapis held her phone in one hand while she was nervously fiddling with her hair using the other hand. Pearl then explained saying " Well, Steven isn't exactly... Accessible right now, his phone immediately went to voicemail so we both assumed that he is in an area with no signal. "

Once Lapis heard this bombshell of news from Pearl she immediately flung her other arm up in anger and quickly responded with " OH THAT'S AMAZING, wait, what about lion? He should be able to reach Steven No matter where he is! Please tell me he isn't off world "

Pearl nervously chuckled a bit then said " Well, Amythest is currently chasing him down. She found him during the night but he's been, less than cooperative. Garnet has also been on edge, it's like they both are sensing something is gonna happen. I doubt it's good at all. "

Lapis couldn't believe the circumstances she had been placed in, the lottery of bad luck was what she won! Firstly Steven was unreachable, secondly Lion was being uncooperative because of something both him and Garnet sensed could happen, thirdly while this was not guaranteed, a new threat could arise! Lapis groaned laying against the couch before she was about to end the call she sarcastically said to Pearl

" Any other bad news I should hear before I go? " Pearl was silent for a bit before saying " The order you made for those new paint colors was delayed by a week or two. " Lapis immediately hung up knowing that Pearl didn't hear the sarcasm in her voice, she sat down on the stool she usually used to sit on when she paint and slowly watched the sun rise wondering what she could do to help Peridot. Most of her skills she ran through weren't even slightly useful at the moment, the truth she pushed away from herself. That she was a monster of a gem made purely for war and destruction was climbing back up, and she knew no matter how much she wanted Peridot back, It was never up to her.

Peridot's POV

The area surrounding me was familiar, I must be in the reconstruction chamber your body goes into when you get poofed! However a throbbing light was seeping into it and it burned my body to even be exposed to it. The only parts of my body that were in it was one of my arms, however I remembered that just before I poofed I was missing an arm due to my gem cracking. This must be what you go through if you get poofed and your gem is cracked, but I couldn't just let myself stay like this! I was probably worrying Lapis and several other much more than I could guess

I tried my hardest to break the barrier keeping me in here, but no matter how hard I tried my efforts weren't leaving even a dent. I had heard that you could alter your appearance when in here, but what was the point of changing the way I looked it it didn't affect the fact that I was useless! My own subconscious caused harm to my gem, it's like even my gem knows that it's a waste of space. I hugged my knees close to my body and slowly cried into them.

If only I had someway to become stronger! All of the Crystal Gems have outstanding capabilities besides me, they don't even have to be physically strong! Lapis could control the entire ocean if she wanted to, while all I could do is lift up some metal. At most I could pick up one of those " Cars " the humans and some gems use. I'd give anything to be stronger so that way people could depend on me, Peridot! Instead of me always depending on others, I'd even give my intelligence in exchange for it.
