"If I had a flower for every time I think about you and how much I miss you, then I would be walking forever in an endless garden."
- Alfred Tennyson

December 25, 1977

"y/n!"
"Mikey!"
"What'd you get this year?"
"I got some barbies, roller skates, a jump rope, new sweaters from my grandma, and that's it!"
"Well, I got you something too."
"But I didn't get you anything!"
"It's ok! This is for both of us."
The young boy pulled out two bracelets, they were made of small braided ropes and had little beads that spelled out 'friends forever'
"Nancy helped me make em'."
"Mike, they're beautiful! Thank you!"
y/n beamed and pecked his cheek.
"Of course y/n/n."
Mike said with pink painted softly on his freckled cheeks. The two children giggled and helped each other put on the bracelets.
"Friends for life."
"For life."

"y/n!"
"I'm coming babe!"
"We're gonna be late!"
"I'm coming!" The girl shouted out the window. y/n quickly put on her shoes and grabbed her bag. She glanced at her friendship bracelet Mike gave her that was sitting on her desk, but just brushed off her thought and ran downstairs.

"Honey, Sam's outside!" Her mother yelled from the kitchen.
"Yeah, I know mom!" y/n yelled back and rushed to pack her backpack with the homework that she had left on the coffee table in the living room from last night. "Have a good day, I love you!" Mrs. l/n yelled again.
"I love you too!"
"Say hi to Mike for me!" y/n looked hesitant, but then answered back in a fake cheery tone.
"Um, 'k!"
y/n grabbed a green apple from the fruit bowl on the dining table and ran out the door towards her boyfriend's red convertible.

"Took you long enough." The brunette boy complained.
"Sorry." y/n pecked Sam's cheek and buckled her seatbelt. The couple began to drive to school and y/n decided to turn on the radio, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen was on, but it was a bit staticky. y/n smiled to herself and began to reminisce about the days when she and the party would put on this song and just sing their hearts out, but sometimes Nancy would come into the basement and yell at them. She was so absorbed in her sweet memories that she didn't even notice that they arrived to Hawkins High.
"We're here, at hell!"
Sam exclaimed and giggled at his own joke, y/n giggled at how dumb he was being instead of the joke, but she would never let him know that. The couple got out of the car and walked towards the big school.

In the hallway, Sam got a lot of greetings and high fives from people that he was on the football team with, while y/n just got dirty looks and could hear a lot of people whispering. She grasped onto Sam's arm tighter and he noticed.
"Hey, it's ok. Just ignore them, they're jealous because you're so beautiful."
y/n smiled, loosened her grip, and held her head up high. Until she saw him.
Michael Wheeler.
They made eye contact for a brief moment, but they immediately looked elsewhere. Sam and y/n walked past y/n's old group of friends, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Mike, however there were new members, Max Mayfield and Jane Hopper. They didn't hate each other, but they didn't really speak to each other anymore, especially after 1983.
