(Y/n) sat across from Bigby in the cafe they had a real first interaction in. Bigby remembered how horrible her English was, and how thick her French accent was at the time.

She sipped her coffee before staring down at her gloved hand. "The symbol... " she glanced back up at Bigby, "It's blood magic. "

"Blood magic?" Bigby repeated, almost thinking it over.

"Yeah, really powerful magic as well. " her brows furrowed slight as she sighed softly, "If the eye can't see it, it doesn't take effect. "

"Can't be that powerful then. " Bigby retorted, seeming as that was a waste of such powerful magic if you could just cover it right up.

"It grows. " she hummed softly, "It spreads like... Like fungi?" she hummed. "Across the body. " she used her other hand to gesture to a trail along her self, starting at her hand before moving it up her arm and down her chest, "It becomes harder and harder to hide, and the more it spreads, the more powerful it becomes. "

"How do you stop it?" Bigby hummed.

"Traditionally, you cut off the limb it's attached to, then burn the severed limb. " Bigby eyed her expression before eyeing her hand, "But there's a less gruesome way... " she glanced at her cup of coffee, "Just a lot harder to obtain."

"And what is it?"

"Find the person who cursed you. " She spoke with a small shrug, "Somehow convince them to remove it... " her eyes met his, "An unlikely outcome. "

"So are you suggesting we just fucking remove your hand?" Bigby growled. (Y/n) shrugged,

"I don't know... We don't know why this happened, hell we don't even know why someone would want people to revert to their story book lives... " she glanced up at Bigby before sighing softly, "I'm just saying, there's a likely chance we might have to remove it. "

"What do we need to do to find this witch?" Bigby questioned.

"I was in the library, right?"

"When we found you, yeah. "

She nodded, "You said I was holding a book?"

"It's in the evidence storage now. "

"Do you remember what book it was?" Bigby sat in thought for a moment,

"It was just a book of fables. "

"Maybe I was looking for the person who did it?"

Bigby shrugged, "But why look in the book? Why not just write a name?" she shrugged this time,

"I don't know, maybe their name was too long?"

"And looking for a fable in one of those books wouldn't have taken as long?"

She laughed softly at this, shaking her head slightly, "Maybe, I don't know... " her brows furrowed as she looked away, "I'm sorry, I wish I could remember... " Bigby shook his head this time,

"Stop apologizing, red. " he unconsciously found himself gently grabbing her hand, "We'll get through this."

"We always do. " she smiled back warmly, and felt his stomach turn and twist, that damn smile. That damn smile that she knew perfectly well could get her whatever she wanted when she wanted it. Bigby wasn't sure how criminals didn't spill everything and more when she walked into the interrogation room.

"Deputy... Sheriff. "

Both (Y/n) and Bigby turned to the voice, Bigby's hand leaving hers.

"Oh... Mr. Hood. " (Y/n) hesitated, smiling warmly. He gave a small nod, glancing at the ground, "I wanted to apologize... For uhm attacking you sheriff... "
