Warmth

Hey guys, I thought this was a great idea for a one shot and decided to get it out to you guys.

It was cold. Every part of her body felt cold. Even with all the extra blankets she felt cold. She cuddled herself trying to forget how much she was shivering. It didn't matter that outside it was a nice and a warm night or that she felt the warmth from the blankets. No, what mattered was that her body was on fire yet she was shivering like crazy. Her whole body was aching,she could barely move a muscle.

It sucked that Gajeel and Lily were out on a job. They wouldn't be back until tomorrow. She really wishes they were here to look after her. She smiles softly, she could just imagine how worried the two would be and how mother hen they would get.

Lucy was here earlier, but she sent her home after awhile not wanting to get her sick. Lucy seemed concerned and tried her best making sure Levy was comfortable and tending to the basics of the house.

Levy was glad though that it wasn't Jet or Droy, she loves them but the last time she got sick they were a bit... overwhelming.

So now here is Levy sick as a dog ,not know what time it is, with her head under the covers trying to build up heat. She closes her eyes tight trying not to think of the whimpers escaping her mouth or the shivering. The medicine that Lucy gave her earlier wore off and she can't remember where Lucy put it. So she has to suck it up for the time being, hopefully she'll get better before Gajeel gets home tomorrow. She slowly drifted off to dreamland thinking of the look on his face when he discovers her.

Gajeel was beyond exhausted. He opened the door to their house ready to just collapse there on the couch. Lily followed drowsily behind him. The house was silent, not a single sound except for the chirping of the crickets outside. He dropped his bag on the floor by the door. Levy always scolded him about it, he didn't care at the moment. His stomach growled. He didn't eat on the train since of his stupid motion sickness. He swears he caught it from Salamander. Levy keeps reminding him that it isn't a virus that you just can't catch from someone.

He goes into the kitchen to get some scrap metal. He stops and takes a whiff. Huh. Bunny girl has been here. Probably here to talk about girly things and books, that thought made Gajeel crinkled his nose. He notices dishes in the sink and a couple of small bottles by it. He picked one up in confusion. Ibu... wha?Motrin?

"Oi Lily! Come here!"

Lily flew into the kitchen wearily.

"What is it Gajeel?"

"What are these?"

Lily looked at the bottles in his hand. He opened and closed his mouth then just shook his head.

"I dunno Gajeel ask Levy." He left probably heading to bed. Gajeel should probably do the same, but first...

He opened the the door to their room.

"Oi shrimp what the hell..." The rest died on his lips as he took in the sight of her. He dropped the bottle on the floor and rushed to her side.

Her faced was flushed. She was breathing heavily and shivering. She looked fragile, he was afraid to touch her.

"Shrimp," he said softly. He strokes her face then quickly withdrew his hand. She was hot to the touch. She shifted then slowly opened her eyes. She blinked a couple of times.

"Gajeel... your back... I'm glad," She took ahold of his hand and gave it a slight squeeze, " how was the mission?"

Gajeel shook his head," It doesn't matter. Why didn't you tell me you were sick?"

"I didn't want to worry you."

"I should go get Wendy." He rose but was stopped by Levy's hand.

"No, stay I missed you."

"How the hell are you suppose to get better then?"

She slowly rose into a sitting position with Gajeel's help. She took a couple of deep breaths before she spoke.

"Lucy left some medicine for me, but I don't know where."

Gajeel got up and left the room. He came back with a bottle he looked at earlier. He also picked up the other one from the floor. He placed them on the bed for her. He scratched his head sheepishly.

Levy just smiled at him. She picked up one of them and squinted to read the label. She then opened it and took out two pills.

"Gajeel can I have a glass of water?"

He left. He returned with what she asked. She took it gratefully, she put the two of the pills in her mouth and finished it with water. She placed the bottles and the glass of water on the night stand and laid back down.

"Is there anything else?"

"Lay here with me Gajeel?" He was more than happy to oblige. He turned off the lamp and laid right next to her. She snuggled into his side. He felt her shivers and his arms tightened around her. He will definitely take care of her tomorrow. Her shivers ceased and her breathing slowed. She fell asleep. Gajeel didn't care if her body felt like fire and she was shivering. He cared for her and this was her down. He smiled remembering her talk about ups and downs. He fell asleep too protectively holding her.

That's how Lily found them.

Gajeel the next day asked the bunny girl advice on how to take care of Levy. Lucy gushed at how sweet he was being and he growled in embarrassment.

Lucy thought maybe she should get sick so a certain someone would take care of her.

When Levy got better she too gushed and gave her thanks to Gajeel at how wonderful he was.

Levy slowly opened the door to the room. Her ears were welcomed with the whimpers coming from the bed. She saw movement under the covers. It broke her heart to see him like this. She placed the tray on his night stand, steam coming up from the bowl of soup. She slowly with drew the covers to have a look at his face. His cheeks were blushing red, his eyes were half lidded, and he was clutching the blankets with all his might. She caressed his face gently. He tried to sit up,but she gently pushed him back down shaking her head. He grabbed onto her hand and gave her a toothy smile, it brought warmth to her heart.

"I brought you some soup in case you get hungry later." She whispered."The medicine should be kicking in soon so just try to get some sleep ok?"

She got up to leave but was stopped by a warm hand. He shook his head at her, he moved a little to give her some room. She smiled at his adorableness. She laid right next to him. Not long after,he snuggled into her side and she wrapped her arms around him.

He put his head in the crook of her neck and whispered,"I love you mommy."

She just smiled and held him a little tighter hoping her warmth helped.

I actually got sick two days ago and was shivering like crazy and whimpering and not to mention the high fever. My bro heard me and got my mom. She gave me Tylenol and laid with me throughout the night. I love my mom, she's the best.

Anyways I thought how cute it would be for Gajeel and Levy. In my head I'm squealing at the adorableness. I hoped you enjoyed this chapter.
